Sara LOPEZ up for World Games Athlete of the Year honours

VOTE NOW for Sara LOPEZ as World Games Athlete of the Year (closes 31 January).

Reigning world number one Sara LOPEZ ensured the compound women’s Archery World Cup Final trophy would stay in Colombia for a second year running in Lausanne last September. She beat the USA’s Erika JONES to inherit the champion’s title from her teammate and Paris 2013 winner Alejandra USQUIANO.

Also the world record holder for the 15-arrow compound elimination match, LOPEZ collected two World Cup stage silver medals in 2014.

Her podium finish at the season opener in Shanghai, where she celebrated her 19th birthday by shooting a perfect 150 during the elimination stages, earned her a World Games Athlete of the Month title.

She came second at the fourth and last World Cup leg in Wroclaw, too.

Both silvers became a distant memory when she collected gold in Lausanne: her third individual title after the Antalya 2013 World Cup stage win and a gold at the youth worlds in China at the end of that previous year.

Ten days into the poll, LOPEZ sits in sixth place – but we can change that.

Voting closes on 31 January 2015. Place your vote now!
