Sudan Archery Federation visits World Archery HQ
Affiliated to World Archery since 2013, the young Sudanese federation will hire a sport-specific consultant for a two-year contract to start this May.
After three of coaches attended courses in Bangkok and Sudanese athlete Mohamed FADL obtained Olympic Solidarity scholarship in view of Rio 2016, the aim of involving a consulting expert is to effectively promote the sport throughout the country.
At the moment archery is mainly practiced in Sudan’s capital city, within three archery clubs. The main goal is to expand outside the city in various regions. Tarik AMIRY noted the practice of traditional archery in villages and identified a young talent which hopefully will convert to practice modern archery.
There is also a need for equipment to develop clubs and increase the number of participants. The federation is producing targets with a local company with recycled materials – one project that will help make the sport’s growth a reality.
With a strong drive to participate at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, leadership willing to invest time and resources in development and a good plan, Sudan’s promising young archery federation has greatly progressed in a very short space of time.
