NFAA Yankton centre doubling in size

The NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Complex has announced plans to double in size ahead, in a bid to add over 2000 square metres to its shooting halls ahead of the World Archery Indoor Championships the South Dakota-based facility is scheduled to host in February 2018.

“These championships require a lot of space, a lot of room,” said National Field Archery Association President Bruce Cull. “And we’re also interested in developing a year-round programme to help facilitate and train athletes, and be recognised by the US Olympic Committee to do that.”

Over 500 athletes and coaches will compete at the world indoors, with indoor qualification, practice and finals venues to be built within the facility, which also boasts large outdoor competition spaces and multiple field archery courses.

Expected to cost around $1.2 million, a third of the project’s funding is being put forward by the City of Yankton.

The complex previously hosted the World Archery Youth Championships, in 2015, and has also been selected to host the World Archery Field Championships in 2020.
