Pablo Gomez shoots 717 at Junior Pan Am Games.

Colombia’s Pablo Gomez has broken the compound men’s under-21 world record for qualifying, shooting 717 out of a possible 720 points at the first Junior Pan Am Games in Cali.

It puts two points on the previous world best for the 72-arrow round, which was set by Paolo Kunsch in late-2020.

“I’m very happy, satisfied with the result today,” said Pablo.

“I just broke my personal record and it feels really cool. To miss only three arrows is incredible.”

The 19-year-old’s score was only one point off the senior world record of 718.

Some 64 archers from 19 countries are taking part.
