Man of the Year! Olympic Champion Mete receives GQ award

Mete Gazoz receives the GQ man of the year award.

Olympic Champion Mete Gazoz was named athlete of the year by Turkey’s GQ magazine at its annual Men of the Year ceremony in Istanbul on Friday.

The 22-year-old gave tribute to his coach and support staff on Instagram after receiving the award:

“A dream is only a dream when it is built alone. When built together, it becomes a reality.”

Gazoz’s gold in Tokyo was the first medal for Turkey in the history of archery at the Games and one of only two golds won by the country at the 2020 Olympics.

The result has garnered him significant domestic popularity.
