Reena Parnat makes triumphant return to outdoor season at Conquest Cup

Reena Parnat celebrating.

Reena Parnat made her return count, winning the recurve women’s gold at the 2025 Conquest Cup in Istanbul.

The Estonian last outdoor appearance was at the Asia Cup in Bangkok in February, as the 31-year-old skipped Central Florida and Shanghai – the first two Hyundai Archery World Cup stages – but her absence didn’t matter.

Parnat deafeated AIN athlete Nurinisso Makhmudova in the gold medal match under an overcast Istanbul sky. It was her first outdoors individual gold on the world circuit since the 2019 International Solidarity Championships – a six-year gap.

The Swiss Open Lausanne bronze medallist had to fight for it in the final on Wednesday in Istanbul, where she impressively failed to drop a single set against any of her five opponents. Makmudova opened strong, shooting two 10s and an eight to win the first set. Parnat responded by taking the next two sets and the lead.

Makhmudova’s best end came in the fourth with a 29 to tie the match at 4-4, but she couldn’t repeat it in the final set scoring three straight nines for a 27. Parnat dropped her own 29 to seal the gold.

In the compound men’s event, Mathias Fullerton grabbed his second individual gold of the season after Central Florida. The world number two dropped just one point in the final against home favourite Batuhan Akcaoglu.

Croatia’s Amanda Mlinaric also secured gold in the compound women’s competition, after missing out at the Veronica’s Cup. Meanwhile AIN’s Buianto Tsyrendorzhiev delivered a surprise in the recurve men’s final, defeating Tokyo 2020 Olympic Champion Mete Gazoz.
