Line-up confirmed for Saltillo 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final
The 32-athlete line-up for the Saltillo 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final has been confirmed.
Unsurprisingly, host nation Mexico has the largest contingent, with six archers competing across the compound and recurve categories.
Sebastian Garcia in compound men and Andrea Becerra in compound women had already qualified for Saltillo by winning their respective stages in Shanghai (stage two) and Antalya (stage three). Ana Paula Vazquez Flores and Dafne Quintero secured their places through ranking points accrued during the World Cup season.
The Olympic mixed team duo of Matias Grande and Alejandra Valencia, along with compound men’s archer Rodrigo Gonzalez De Alba, were selected as the customary host-nation picks.
Six athletes from the original line-up have since withdrawn, however.
China’s Li Mengqi in recurve men, Zhu Jingyi and Yu Qi in recurve women, Korea’s Kim Je Deok in recurve men and Kang Chaeyoung in recurve women and Chinese Taipei’s Tang Chih-Chun in recurve men have all withdrawn from Saltillo 2026 to prioritise their preparations for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, which begin less than two weeks after the World Cup Final.
They have been replaced by Italy’s Mauro Nespoli in recurve men and Roberta Di Francesco in recurve women, Türkiye’s Berkim Tumer and France’s Jean-Charles Valladont in recurve men, Germany’s Katharina Bauer in recurve women and China’s Zhong Qixuan, who joins the line-up as the reserve recurve women team archer.
The recurve line-up has therefore undergone several changes, but all-time great Brady Ellison will be in Mexico to defend his recurve men’s title after winning his sixth World Cup Final trophy in Nanjing 2025.
Sara Lopez, meanwhile, is back after missing last year’s Final and will be aiming to claim a record-extending 10th World Cup Final title.
Archers qualify for the season finale either by winning a stage of the circuit or by collecting enough points to finish among the top-ranked athletes in the World Cup Ranking. The four stages of the 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup were held in Puebla (Mexico), Shanghai (China), Antalya (Türkiye) and Madrid (Spain).
The 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final takes place on 12-13 September in Saltillo (Mexico). The match draw, which determines the quarterfinal brackets, is scheduled for Thursday 10 September.
