Top-ranked para archers ready for India’s historic hosting debut in Ahmedabad

A star-studded line-up featuring several world number ones and Paralympic champions is set for action as India makes its international hosting debut with the third stage of the 2026 Hyundai World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, this week.

Launched in 2026, the Hyundai World Archery Para Series is an international ranking circuit designed to increase the exposure of para archery and provide athletes with more opportunities for high-level competition.

The event takes on added significance with the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games less than 50 days away, providing several of Asia’s leading para archers with an important competition opportunity ahead of the continental multisport event in Japan.

A total of 109 para archers from 19 countries will compete in individual and team events across the recurve, compound, W1 and visually impaired categories.

Hosts India, who topped the medal table at the opening stage in Bangkok with seven gold medals, will be looking to make their first international event on home soil a memorable one.

World number ones Sheetal Devi and Toman Kumar, both reigning world champions in the compound categories, spearhead a 29-strong Indian squad.

Paris 2024 mixed team bronze medallist Rakesh Kumar adds further strength to the home compound line-up, while reigning Paralympic champion Harvinder Singh and world number five Pooja lead India’s challenge in recurve.

China, Czechia and Great Britain have also named strong squads, setting the stage for an intriguing week of competition in Ahmedabad.

Several winners from the previous stage in Nove Mesto will look to continue their strong form, including Czechia’s Sarka Pultar Musilova in W1 women, Cyprus’ Christos Misos in visually impaired 1 and home favourite Bhawna in recurve women.
