Archers target world ranking points as Asia Cup heads to Sulaymaniyah

Bangladesh Compound Men's team

The second stage of the 2026 Asia Cup is taking place from 25 to 29 October in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, with 106 archers from 19 nations competing for medals and world ranking points.

Originally scheduled for April, the event was postponed amid geopolitical concerns and now takes place during a busy period in the international calendar.

With India, China and several other major Asian archery nations absent, Bangladesh and Kazakhstan have an opportunity to build on their recent success at the opening Asia Cup stage in Bangkok.

Bangladesh made history in Bangkok by winning its first-ever Asia Cup gold medal in the compound men’s team event. Kazakhstan also claimed gold in the compound women’s and recurve women’s team events, as well as bronze in the compound mixed team event.

Both nations will look to carry that momentum into the second stage, while other competitors will be aiming for podium finishes and valuable world ranking points at Sulaymaniyah Sport Club.

With several leading nations missing, the event offers participating teams an opportunity to make their mark on the international stage.
