Face 2 Face Archery Tournament 2008

 
The Amsterdam Face 2 Face tournament is a biannual elite archery indoor event. It is organised by the Concordia Archery Tournaments (CAT) foundation and relies on volunteers only. Participation in this event with its very attractive format is restricted to members of national teams and pro teams and other archers of a high international level. The competition is interesting for both athletes and spectators. The archers shoot one-to-one (Face 2 Face) matches only, each time 24 matches being played at the same time. The 2008 edition of the Face 2 Face tournament will take place from 5 to 7 December 2008 at the Sporthallen Zuid in Amsterdam.   In mid August 2008 the Men Recurve category for the Face 2 Face tournament in December 2008 was already fully booked! The organisers are pleased with the great interest, but regret that some of the elite archers in the world could not enter. It was decided on 10 September 2008 by the CAT foundation to reopen the entry registration for the Recurve Men category and to adapt the programme to a maximum of 96 men recurve athletes. As a result, the number of archers per category for the 2008 edition of the Amsterdam Face 2 Face will be 96 Compound Men, 96 Recurve Men, 48 Compound Women and 48 Recurve Women. The maximum number of participants is now 288. Already more than 230 athletes from 25 countries have entered the starting list, which is more than in the previous editions of the tournament. For the Compound Men and Compound Women categories there is a short waiting list.   It has to be expected that participation in the next 2010 edition of the Amsterdam Face 2 Face tournament will be possible for national squads and pro-teams or individuals of a restricted number only. Selection and/or registration rules will be harder to make sure the tournament keeps its focus on world's best only.   The programme of the 2008 Face 2 Face tournament as published in our newsletter 2 from August 2008 will be slightly changed due to an extra preliminary round for Recurve Men—the dates stay the same, however.
