Prof Dr Ugur ERDENER re-elected as FITA President   Prof Dr Ugur ERDENER was brilliantly re-elected as FITA President during the second day of the 48th FITA Congress in Ulsan, Korea. A very appreciative Prof Dr ERDENER proposed to re-appoint Mr Tom DIELEN as Secretary General, who was warmly applauded by the congress delegates.   IOC Member Prof Dr ERDENER (TUR) and Tom DIELEN (BEL) will carry their second 4-year mandate with one goal in mind: continue the successful World Archery Plan.   Philippe BOUCLET (FRA) and Sanguan KOSAVINTA (THA) were also re-elected as FITA Vice-Presidents. Focus groups have been tackling the various aspects of the plans with concrete actions, for example:   Ø Define the values and image of archery Ø Launch in 2009 the World Archery brand (the flagship product of archery) and have FITA as the producer Ø A greater identity plan (differentiation) for Recurve and Compound for a better future for both   As in the 2007 Congress in Leipzig, delegates had the chance to give input on the World Archery Plan and the upcoming areas to work on for the Promotion, Partnership and Expansions targets. The World Archery Plan is a truly democratic plan with a concrete evolution that moves archery forward.       FITA Council 2009-2011Elections Congress yesterday ratified the agreement between FITA and the International Paralympic Committee for the governance of para-archery and therefore, a new Para-Archery Committee was created with the following persons elected: Marco CARPPIGNANO (ITA), Rita VAN DRIEL (NED), Carole HICKS (NZL) and Hans-Peter WERLEN (SUI).   The chairwoman of the former transition committee, Ann WEBB (GBR) was appointed as Honorary Chairwoman of the Committee—a well deserved recognition for her many years involvement in para-archery.   The elections continued with committee positions and the following persons were elected: Technical Committee: Don RABSKA (USA) Guo BEI (CHN) Jonathan SHALES (GBR) James LARVEN (AUS) CHIU Ping-Kun (TPE) Medical & Sport Science: Martin BAUER (GER) Ermin ERGEN (TUR) Carlos HERMES (GUA) Nancy LITTKE (CAN) Varin TANSUPHASIRI (THA)     Target Archery: Andreas LORENZ (GER) Vicente MARTINEZ (ESA) Simon WEE (SIN) Field Archery: Tom GREEN (USA) The President also appointed with the approval of congress the three members of the new Audit Board: Bob SMITH (USA), Rolf LIND (DEN) and Joerg BROKAMP (GER).   Awards and Plaquettes The awards for Gender Equity were given for the first time at this congress and they went to:   Ø Russian Archery Federation – 1st place Ø Archery GB (Great Britain) – 2nd place Ø Italian Archery Federation – 3rd place   FITA also honoured several of its outstanding volunteers and officials by giving the FITA Plaquettes and awards: Gold Plaquette: Prof Dr Ugur ERDENER (TUR), FITA President and IOC Member Golden Arrow award: Werner BEITER (GER)     Silver Plaquettes: Kahraman BAGATIR (TUR) Alojz MAUSER (CRO) Trudy MEDWED (AUT) Morten WILLMAN (NOR) Xiuzhi ZHANG (CHN) Kotaro HATA (JPN) Bronze Plaquettes: Renato DONI (ITA) Tony McLOUGHLIN (IRL) Carole HICKS (NZL) President ERDENER said: “We have made some great progress in the last few years and we created a great team atmosphere at FITA.
