Many World Records in Cadet
Kundu-Antalya - 8 October 2008
The cadets were also shooting their short distances today in Kundu-Antalya (TUR). The Koreans KIM Joo Wan and LIM Su Ji achieved two new World Records for a FITA Round in Cadet! In Compound Cadet Men, Robert BOTJI (HUN) took the lead and Tristan SKARWAN (USA) did the same in cadet women.
All the archers who turn a maximum of 16 years old during the year of 2008 can compete in the cadet category of these Youth World Championships. The cadets shoot at slightly shorter distances.
Recurve Cadet Men
KIM J. W. put the new World Records at 1377 points! KIM Hyun took 2ndplace with 1357 and SHIN Jae Hun completed the Korean domination with 1347. Two Indians followed: Hemanta BASUMATARY and Atanu DAS, respectively at 1324 and 1316 points. CHEN Yu-Cheng (TPE) had 1314 and Maciej FALDZINSKI (POL) earned 1309. As for the juniors, all the individuals in all categories will shoot the matches tomorrow, but a better rank in qualifications means a better road to an eventual victory.
In the team competition, Korea also broke the World Record with 4081 points! India was 2nd with 3949 and Italy 3rd with 3908. Norway made the cut at 16th with 3718 points.

LIM brought another proof that women can be equal to men (or girls to boys) in archery, when she also scored 1377 points! OH Da Mee (KOR) reached the 2nd place with 1369 and CHEN Yeqing (CHN) was 3rd with 1360. Tatiana SEGINA (RUS) moved up to 4th place with 1351 and TAN Ya-Ting finished 5th with 1349. Polina RODIONOVA (UKR) was 6th and Mariana AVITIA (MEX) stayed on 7th.
For the teams, Korea had another World Record with 4069 points! Ukraine finished 2nd with 3962 just ahead of Russia with 3960. Greece was 16thwith 3577 points.
Compound Cadet Men
BOTJI moved up from 2nd to 1st with an impressive 348 points at 50m and finished with 1396 points. C. A. RODRIGUEZ (MEX) also moved up and earned the 2nd place with 1392. Connor KELLY (USA) achieved 1391 with a new World Record at 30 meters. He had a perfect 360 points with 25 arrows in the X10, breaking the previous record of 360/18 that was hold by his teammate Levi CYR. CYR was shooting just beside him and finally reached 5th place. Yiftach SWERY (NZL) was leading yesterday but dropped to 4th today and Viktor LUNDSTROM (SWE) finished 6th.
With 4126 points, the USA maintained their lead over Mexico, which had 4114. At 3rd place, Canada overtook Great Britain (4062 to 4037).
Compound Cadet Women
SKARVAN and Paige PEARCE (USA) had actually the same number of points 1387! However, the first one scored 97 tens (compared to 95 for the latter one). Ekaterina KOROBEYNIKOVA (RUS) finished 3rd with 1386, ahead of Kailey JOHNSTON (USA). K. S. MONTELLANO (MEX), Jorina COETZEE (RSA) and G. J. TREVINO (MEX) followed.
USA put the team World Record at 4151 points, ahead Russia, 4051 and Mexico, 4026.
