We talked to the archers that were competing today in the team events and we asked them about their matches.   Recurve Men  Team Great Britain We’re glad to be among the top 8 teams qualified for the Olympic Games! Anyone here in Leipzig is a difficult rival. In addition to that, the wind was quite disturbing. Thus we can really be content with our results. After these World Championships we want to practice for the Dover World Cup, the test event in Beijing and for the Olympic Games.   Team Canada We’re pumped and excited! Of course, we’d have liked to beat the Koreans, but they were just too strong. Anyway, we’re so happy to have qualified as a team for the Olympic Games for the first time. That’s a reason to celebrate. The next tournament we’re going to join is the PAN-American Games what we’re already looking forward to.   Team Mexico Our big wish was to qualify for the Olympic Games and we, unfortunately, didn’t make it here in Leipzig. This reminds us on how it went four years ago. Now we have to try it again in Salvador during the Continental Championships.   Team Malaysia We’re sad that we weren’t able to qualify as a team. What a bad luck, but Chinese Taipei was just better than us. We were much stronger individually. In a couple of days we’ll revive our training again.   Recurve Women  Team Colombia Our emotions at the moment are difficult to describe. We’re so happy and excited! We were working towards the results we just received here. Our main goal was to achieve the qualification for the Olympic Games and after all our work, we can go there for the first time now! If it wasn’t that windy, our score could even have been slightly better. After these World Championships we have to get through lots of hard training for next year.   Team India Everything went well for us. Even though it was quite windy, we were able to qualify for the Olympic Games. It was just bad luck that we didn’t make it for a medal in these World Championships. When we get back to India we’re going to have ten days off before we’ll start training again.   Team France The opponents weren’t too strong, it was rather the wind which caused us some troubles. We just had bad luck. We’re going to prepare for a couple of forthcoming tournaments in France as soon as we get back home.   Team Japan We’re not content because we’d have liked to achieve better results than we just did here. Our own ability wasn’t enough compared to that of the other teams. After all, we regard these World Championships as a good training for the Olympic Games. Now we stay here to cheer for our Japanese men’s team. As soon as we’re back home we’re going to start with the preparations for the test event in Beijing next month.     Compound Men  Team USA It was so exciting! The matches get tougher and harder with every round. What makes it a bit difficult is the wind here, but it’s also a challenge for the archers.   Team Norway We’re feeling alright. The USA is always very strong and hard to defeat in the quarter-final, but we tried our best. We were happy to beat Great Britain in the first round. The competition was really difficult and tough. Unfortunately, we were too passive somehow as we were trying to shoot carefully because of the wind. Anyway, we’re happy and looking forward to Dover next month.   Team France We’re content, but not happy. We wanted to go to the semi but our quarter-final versus Sweden was tough. It came down to the very last arrow of the tie-break. As soon as we return back home we have to begin to prepare for the “Championat de France” and also for the World Cup already.   Team Netherlands We lost for oine point against Spain in the quarter-final and we’re pissed. We just didn’t shoot well enough. That was bad luck. The wind in the end was disturbing. And we really have to admit that the others shot better than we did. But we did our best. Now we stay and support our Dutch women. After we have returned home we have to start training for Dover next month.   Team Germany We’re obviously disappointed. Now this season is over for us. Our training went so well. But it’s mostly like that: If the training goes on fantastically, the competition afterwards goes awry. Our individual performances were much better than our team performance. For the rest of these World Championships we’re going to stay here in Leipzig as spectators. As soon as we get back home we’ll begin to prepare for the German Championships.   Team South Africa We were lucky and our shots weren’t too bad, even though we could have been better. The weather was alright, only the wind was a bit tricky. Despite the windy weather we struggled somehow with France who is always a strong opponent. Now we just want to go out for a beer. Then we have to see how it’ll go on. We’re going to start training for the World Cup next year for sure.   Team Great Britain We’re in a cool mood. Unfortunately, there was a bit of wind which was bad. We were shooting well nevertheless. Now we just want to get drunk somewhere. The city centre isn’t far away from our hotel where we already found some nice places to go out. Of course, we’re also going to stay until the end of these World Championships to watch the other archers and to support our women. Afterwards we’ll start as soon as possible to prepare for Dover.   Compound Women  Team USA Of course, we’re very happy! We didn’t expect to break the world record. We shot really well. There’s much potential to break our record again. But first we need some rest now after all. We want to watch and cheer our men’s team.   Team Italy After all we’re very happy as our wish came true. We hoped to get to the semi-final and now we hope to win. Team USA just set the World Record at 232, but there is enough space to 240 points to beat them (smiling)!   Team Germany We’re content as it went as we hoped it would. It’s really great that we set up a new German record. The conditions were quite alright so that we were able to give our best. However the USA is always a very strong rival.   Team Philippines We just feel terrible now and we wish that the weather would have been better. Anyway, we also had a great deal of fun here. After all, we met our expectations. As soon as we get back home, we’re going to start to prepare for the World Cup next month in Dover. We’re also looking forward already to World Championships in Korea in two years.   Team India Our feelings are rather bad at the moment. We were shooting worse during the competition than we hoped to be beforehand. The conditions were quite okay, but we just had bad luck. So we can’t blame it on something special. Now we want to focus on the World Cup next month in Dover. We’re going to start with the training next week already.   Team Spain For us these World Championships were quite disappointing so far. We firstly need a rest now before we can start to think about how it shall go on. Besides archery we also have to find enough time for our families who are fundamental for us.   Team South Africa We’re happy because it went ok for us. We had the opportunity to gain a lot of experience as we’re not used to such big events like this with all the pressure they bring.
