Individual Quarter and Semi Finals in the Cadet Division
Merida
On Thursday morning, all individual 1/4 and 1/2 finals are taking place in Merida, Mexico. The cadets started first and will be then followed by all the juniors. Find here the latest updates on these matches!
Compound Cadet Men
The two medal matches are know now: it will be Kevin Burri (Switzerland) facing Paris Goico De Lara (Dominican Republic) for gold, while two Americans – Corey Muellerbach and Adam Wrucj - will fight for the bronze medal.
To reach the gold final, Goico De Lara defeated first the Indian Renso Purty (113-108) and then Muellerbach (114-112). For his part, the Swiss went over Mexican Jessy Uresty (114-110) and American Wrucj (111-108).
Compound Cadet Women
In this category the final will be between the local young archer Martha Hernandez and the Italian Anastasia Anastasio. The first mentioned took advantage of shooting at home this morning to beat Amber Christensen (USA) and Lucy O’Sullivan (GBR) on the scores of 109-107 and 111-109.
The Italian girl first eliminated Camille Bouffard-Demers (CAN) after a shoot-off (113-113 - 9/8) and then Kendal Nicely (USA) by 114-112 on her way to the grand final. The bronze medal will be a 100% Anglo-Saxon match between O’Sullivan and Kendal.
Recurve Cadet Men
This morning the Australian Ryan Tyack faced two East European archers and he defeated the two of them: 107-99 over Polish Andrej Wjciechowski in 1/4 final and 114-109 to Ukrainian Tarak Senyuk in 1/2. On Saturday he will meet Mohd Izzuddin Abdul Rahim from Malaysia for the World Title of his category.
On his way to the gold match, the Malaysian cadet defeated Massimiliano Mondia (ITA) on the score of 113-111 and Forrest Blakle (USA) 108-107. The latter will thus face Tarak Senyuk for the bronze medal.
Recurve Cadet Women
This category saw Beverly Stevens (GBR) and Inna Stepanova (RUS) both lose to the Indian Pranitta Vardhineni. The scores of their 1/4 and 1/2 finals were 101-97 and 108-106. On the other side of the match play chart, the Australian Jane Waller proved her talent by beating her two opponents of the day, Estonian Liis Varik (109-106) and Indian Pratina Boro (104-91).
Waller will thus be facing Vardhineni on Saturday, with hope of becoming the new World Champion, while Stepanova will fight with the other Indian Prahina for the last medal of this category.
