World Archery Americas changes its Executive Board
The 2013 Congress of World Archery Americas (WAA) met on March 7 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, to discuss areas of paramount importance for the development of archery in the Americas.
Mr Ernesto DIAZ BAZAN, WAA President since 2002, announced his resignation from office one year before the end of his term due to excessive workload in his personal business. All Congress participants expressed their gratitude to Mr DIAZ BAZAN for his efforts to unite the countries of the Americas to develop archery in this region, and named him WAA Honorary President.
WAA Constitution establishes that if a President is not able to complete his term, he is to be replaced by the Vice-President of the geographical region where the President comes from. In this case, Ms Gloria ROSA, Vice-President for Central America and the Caribbean, was named as the new President to complete the current presidential term until elections take place in October 2014 in Rosario, Argentina.

President Gloria ROSA announced that she has named Mr Sergio FONT (Cuba) as the new Secretary General and Mrs Jacqueline RUIZ (Puerto Rico) as the new treasurer.
WAA Congress participants approved the list of World Ranking Events to be held in the Americas in 2014. These events will be held in the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Puerto Rico and Argentina.
Developmental programmes as the one currently being carried out by British coach Richard PRIESTMANN in six countries in the Americas was lengthy discussed.
Mrs Maria Emma GAVIRIA, President of the Colombian Federation, made a presentation on the preparations for the third stage of the World Cup to be held in Medellin in July.
Ms Gloria ROSA closed the Congress Session by encouraging all WAA Member Associations to continue to work for the development of archery in the region.
