Flash Interview from Finals

San Salvador – 25 June, 2006

Almendra Ochoa (MEX), shooting 118, one point shy of the World Record:

It was amazing, the stadium and everything. It’s by far my personal best. I was shacking but I kept on shooting 10s ! I am glad I finally got this bronze medal in compound women.

Sofia Goncharova (RUS), winner in compound women:

My sight was a bit off at the beginning of the Final, because the field seemed a different than the warm-up one. It costs me one or two bad arrows, but the rest went fine. I guess after two wins in the two last World Cups, I will await Shanghai eagerly. Before this, I will shoot at the European Championships and I will keep on practicing seriously. Now that I have a second Balmain watch, maybe I’ll make a present to one of my friend.

Jorge Jimenes (ESA), bronze medal in compound men:

I am very happy with this medal. It’s mine ! The fans and this filled stadium were great. I think we had 2’000 fans and they gave me great support ! I would like to thank everybody !

Reo Wilde (USA), silver medal in compound men:

It’s not stressful to play against your brother. We shoot against each other very often. One time I win, one time I lose… It’s good to pull each other, motivate each other. Logan is a bit younger but he is becoming pretty tough.

Logan Wilde (USA), gold medal in compound men:

It’s good to have one on your older brother. We have 3rd one between us. Reo is actually quiet protective and supportive all the time.

Qian Jialing (CHN), gold medal in recurve women:

I felt very confident all through the match although I was losing at some point. I went through my motion and I could make the necessary adjustments during the match. This stadium was great with a lot of spectators. I hope we can make it event better in Shanghai at the next World Cup event. This is my home town !

Ilario Di Buo (ITA), gold medal in recurve men:

I didn’t shoot too well, but it was enough to win. Since it started to rain, the conditions were a bit more difficult for us than for previous match, but this is no excuse. My sight was bit off for the final. Everytime I win against Wietse I feel sad because he is my friend… Now I am on top of the World Cup ranking, I guess I will start thinking about Mexico.
