China, known for its long history and brilliant culture, is one of the ancient countries in the world. Archery, as an ancient skill, has a long history and is quite popular among the people. In its long process of development, archery has been regarded as a traditional Chinese sport with a recorded history and many attractive and moving legends.
The archers from Shanghai have made outstanding contributions to the development of China’s modern archery. In 1961, Zhao Suxia, a female archer from Shanghai, became the first archery world record holder in China. This year, Qian Jialing from Shanghai is currently 1st in the World Cup ranking in the Recurve Women category. In the modern metropolis of Shanghai, archery, having a long history and exciting competition, has aroused increasing interest of the people.
The FITA Archery World Cup Stage 4 is hold in Shanghai. It will be a grand gathering of the world archery family. More than 200 athletes have registered to the competition. Among them, top archers from Korea, Chinese Taipei, India and from many other top countries in the World. There will also be some elite Chinese archers participating in the competition.
The qualifications will be held in the refurbished clay shooting range of Shanghai Shooting and Archery Center. The finals will be arranged on the beautiful central lawn of Shanghai Minhang Sports Park. The competition format will be the one used during the Olympic Games. On the day of the finals, thousands of people are expected to come and enjoy the game.
