World Cup Stage 2 – Quotes of the Day 4
Varese - 3 May 2007
We have gathered the impressions of the archers after their matches:
Villi, CRO
I am happy with my shooting, I could have been better, but I am really happy to have gone so far. But I am disappointed that I didn’t bring any rain clothes, as I didn’t check the weather forecast before coming.
Did rain affect your shooting on the qualifications?
No… I was shooting well, but I used a plastic bag underneath my clothes and it helped me to keep me warm, after that, I was shooting better.
Karsenty, ISR
I am like someone who just lost a duel, but I am happy to have gone so far, I did what I had to do best.
Are you going to participate in other World Cup events?
I think I am going to Antalya, and if I score some points for the World Cup ranking, I may go to Dover, Germany for sure I’ll be there and maybe Field World Championships too.
Hofer, SUI
I am disappointed… I didn’t catch my chance, I rushed myself too much and that is the result.
Jimenez, ESA
I am very happy. Yesterday cold and rain were too much for me. Today the weather is better but I was a bit nervous coming from behind (number 31 seed). It feels good to have made it all the way to the final.
Gellenthien, USA
I am doing great! It is my first World Cup event so it is a great feeling!
Lee Hye Yeon, KOR
The weather was better than yesterday and I had a good feeling during my matches. I just had to adapt to the slightly changing wind. It didn’t matter that I was 8th after the qualifications, but I felt the pressure during the shoot-off versus my team-mate Kim Yu Mi. I missed the last cut of the national team (that shot in Ulsan) so I am very happy to have the opportunity to shoot here in Varese.
Reo Wilde, USA
I shot well. The other just shot one arrow better than I did (losing 117-118). It’s part of the fun of match play.
Davis, USA
I was dropping my forearm and shooting too low. By the time I fixed it, I shot a 59 in my last end but that was too late. I know I can shoot well but I need to be more consistent.
Kazantseva, RUS
It was a difficult tournament for me in Varese. I’ll go home and get some rest next week. Then I’ll get ready for the next World Cup in Antalya.
Van Natta, USA
The weather was almost perfect for me today with a tiny bit of wind to make it interesting. The field is also drying, which is good. I hope I will win my first World Cup tournament Saturday and shoot at my best. Petra (Ericsson) and I have known each other for a long time. We met at the World Championships in British Columbia. She was seeded number 1 and I was an unknown 19 year old, but I won the match! Everybody was surprised!
Bouillot, FRA
I shot a 10 in my last end but then I was just missing it all the time. I still lack some experience to follow through after the qualifications. I hope I’ll be better in Antalya.
Schuh, FRA
I didn’t feel anything but I guess the release of my last arrow wasn’t good. I shot a 6 and that cost me the match for one point. It doesn’t matter too much. This is my best results at this level and I am improving.
