World Cup Stage 2 – Quotes of the Day 5
Varese - 4 May 2007
We have gathered the impressions of the archers after their matches:
Mospinek, POL
This is a bit of a glory day for Poland, beating Korea ! This is the first time we accomplish such a feat ! In this weather, it is almost anybody’s game. Actually I suffered more from the soaked field than from the weather. I managed to keep my finger warm enough to shoot. We are a strong team but we don’t want to carry ourselves too much forward. We don’t think about (the World Championships in) Leipzig, yet. We need to prove ourselves one match at a time.
Marusava, BLR
It is a difficult weather but I have been shooting good all week long. I am surprised. I’ll shoot twice for the bronze medal match tommorrow (team and individual), so I just hope to win two more matches…
Kazantseva, RUS
I felt better today. I put on a lot of clothes and I didn't feel the cold too much. It's good to reach another final with the team.
Simpson, GBR
We were ahead at half-way versus the Americans, but then we ran out of time and missed an arrow. We could not see well due to the rain. We have to move on and hope for the best next time.
Fleury, USA
It was like the Lake Lockness out there !...
Wills, GBR
My feet were all wet and freezing. They could have put some pallet on which to stand or something. We tried to keep it simple and focused on shooting on “yellow” (9-10 pts). It went through. Let’s hope in the Dover World Cup it won’t rain, because we’ll probably have some wind, too.
Gilliéron, SUI (supporting the Swiss team)
The conditions here are quite amazing, especially since this is my first time at this level. I never experienced both the cold and the rain at the same time.
Aubert, FRA (was not selected for the team event but shoot for individual bronze tomorrow).
I was fourth in the internal selection so I can’t shoot the team event. It’s OK. I am very happy with my individual performance but I stay an “outsider”, especially if I am not so good in qualifications. I still think my opponents are better than me but I’ll do my best to win the match. This year it goes very well. I never played agains Nespoli although he is a youngster like me. With the rain it is a bit more complicated but the name of the game stay the same : to score one point better than his opponent.
