World Cup Stage 3 – Quotes of the day 2 Antalya - 29 May 2007   We asked the archers the following questions: 1. This is the 20th Golden Arrow tournament in Antalya. How many did you participate in? 2. What is your best souvenir? 3. How are you shooting today?   Recurve Women  Natalia Valeeva (ITA)    Valeeva (ITA) 1.     Since 1990, about 15 times. 2.     Medals and parties. 3.     My shooting is not perfect but it is good. I am still on the process of coming back to high level competition, but I am in the right direction.   Nasaridze (TUR) 1. Since 1989! 2. In 1991, I won the tournament and made a couple of other medals later on. 3. So, so.   Williamson (GBR) 1. A lot. Maybe since 1994. 2. A gold bracelet and a gold necklace. There is a good store down the road. 3. It’s a long day of shooting. I had a good morning and now I am doing all right.   Dielen (SUI) 1. Five times. 2. My 60 meters today. 3. I am fighting against myself, but I have the feeling that I am winning.   Folkard (GRB) 1. Around five times. 2. Don’t know… 3. OK.   Berzina (LAT) 1. Second time. 2. This year is better than last year. 3. I am very happy with the feeling I get while shooting today. The weather is perfect. There is sunshine and just a little bit of wind.   Esheev (RUS) – FITA Council member, Olympic medallist, President and Coach of the Russian Federation 1. All the 20 editions since 1987! 2. The weather! No cloud, the sun. It’s nice to see the moon in the evening when there is still light. 3. Our girls are not shooting as well as expected today. They must focus more on everything that they need to do. Not just stand there and expecting it to happen.   Marc Saunier (FRA) – physical therapist of the French team since 1983 1. I believe I came 18 times. 2. The team World Championships title for Recurve Men in 1993. 3. On my side, it’s all OK. The girls have no physical problem. They just need to be careful with the sun and drink a lot of water.   Compound Men   Gates (RSA) 1. This is my second time. 2. I earned the bronze medal in 2004. 3. I shot well this morning but I had some problem with the tricky wind at 70 meters. It’s OK now.    Reza Zamaninejad (IRI)    Zamaninejad (IRI) 1. The third or fourth time. 2. I achieved 4th place three years ago. 3. I shoot OK today. I am around the 20th place.   Van Zutphen (NED) 1. Many, over 10times, but I don’t remember for sure. 2. My qualification for the Olympic Games during the European Championships in 2000. 3. Average.   Lundin (SWE) 1. Five times I believe. 2. The sea and the sun. 3. OK.   Gellenthien (USA) 1. First time. 2. We will see this week what will be the best souvenir, but the venue is good. The archers should be able to shoot good scores. 3. I guess I am happy with the ranking but I think I left a lot of points on the field today.   Brasseur (FRA) 1. Second time. 2. 3rd place with the team last year. It was a nice match. 3. Quietly. I make a bit too many small mistakes and I also lost a vane from an arrow during one shot. It ended in the 6.   Genet (FRA) 1. Second time. 2. We will see at the end of the week, but the team 3rd place was great last year. 3. It’s OK.   Hofer (SUI) 1. Second time. 2. 3rd place in individual last year. 3. It’s going well but the lunch break was a bit too long.   Karsenty (ISR) 1. First time. 2. It looks good here. 3. I shoot in France and I am not used to FITA Round anymore. My last one was at the World Championships 2005 in Madrid. It’s difficult to judge the overall performance but I am fighting on every arrow.   Compound Women (shooting tomorrow)   Willems (BEL) 1. 4th time. 2. No best souvenir. This is not my best place for results. For the sea and the sun, it’s nice. 3. Practice was difficult on Monday. I will focus on keeping the fun in archery during competition.   Davis (USA) 1. First time. 2. We will see but it is very nice here. The field, the accommodation the weather… It is an uplifting feeling and gives you confidence. 3. I shot a lot of arrows yesterday. It felt good.
