30 May 2007 - Two new Koreans and Van Natta

Two new Koreans and Van Natta Antalya - 30 May 2007   Van Natta confirms that she is in great shape in Compound Women, while two new Koreans reinforce their team in Recurve Men, Kim Yeon Chul and Im Ji Wan. They are all getting ready for the World Championships.  The target sizes during a FITA Round are:   Ø      122 centimetres at 90, 70 and 60 metres Ø      80 centimetres at 50 and 30 metres   If one calculates the ratio, one would see that the most difficult target for men is at 90 metres, but the one for women is at 50 metres. As a recap, the archers release four rounds of 36 arrows, respectively at distances of:   Ø     90, 70, 50 and 30 meters for men Ø     70, 60, 50 and 30 meters for women   Here are the intermediate results after two distances:   Recurve Men Korea introduced two new members in the team to prepare for the upcoming World Championships in Leipzig (GER)… and of course they are good! Kim Yeon Chul and Im Ji Wan were “one and two” at 90 metres with 328 and 326 points. They created a small gap over the third and fourth placed, Ivashko (UKR) and Di Buo (ITA), who both had 323. Frangilli (ITA) and Terry (GBR) were not far behind with 321 and 319 points respectively.   The top two Koreans kept their places after the 70 metre distance and Kim earned a strong total of 673 points. Another Korean, Im Dong Hyun, made a nice come back on fourth place with a total of 657 points (343 at 60 meters). Terry is 3rd with 660, Ivashko 5th, Di Buo 6th and Moriya (JPN) 7th.      Tania Forni (SUI)Compound Women With 347 points Van Natta (USA) led the ranking after the first distance (70 meters). Varese winner Ericsson (SWE) and Ulsan winner Kazantseva (RUS) were tied at 343. Bouillot (FRA), who broke the FITA Round World Record in Varese, and Willems (BEL), who took it off her just one week later, were tied at 342. Wittstock (RSA) was the nice surprise, also achieving 342.   One lady, Buden (CR0), reached 350 points at 60 metres, two of them achieved 349 and five of them earned 346. This means the top of the ranking stayed pretty much in the same order: Van Natta (half-way total of 696 points), Ericsson (692), Kazantseva (689), Bouillot and Willems (688). Buden came back to 7th place and Goncharova (RUS) on 8th rank.   However, for the women, the 50 metre distance can still change the ranking a lot this afternoon.   Didier Miéville FITA Communication
