1 June 2007 - World Cup Stage 3 – Quotes of the day 5

World Cup Stage 3 – Quotes of the day 5 Antalya – 1 June 2007   We met with some of the team finalists today:      Jamie Van Natta (USA)Van Natta (USA) – Team Compound Women gold It was a challenging match! Both teams were always within one or two points. We always enjoy playing against the Russian team because they are high calibre archers. I am happy we took this gold and I am sure that we will meet again!   Joahn Fleury (USA) – Team Compound Women gold Although it is in the back of your mind, you have to forget the overall score when you shoot. You must focus on getting 10s to finish the match and hopefully clinched it.   Kazantseva (RUS) – Team Compound Women silver I am enjoying my week because my little son is here and my mother, too. She takes care of him when I am shooting. It’s good to see them, because I wasn’t much at home lately with all the training camps. The conditions are good and I like this field of final that we used today. I hope tomorrow I can get a small revenge over Jahna (Davis) to make it up for the team defeat, but I am sure she is thinking differently…   Jean-Marc Beaud (FRA) – Team Compound Men gold It’s a nice victory and it is promising for the upcoming World Championships. I am not at my top level yet, but I have planned a lot of practice sessions until July. I know Dominique (Genet) for a long time and we also shot with Sébastien (Brasseur) quite often. For instance, we played together at the European Indoor Championships last year.   Park Sung Hyun (KOR) – Team Recurve Women gold Yes, this victory is a good sign for Leipzig but there is still work to do. After the selection, end of May, I had a small injury and I could not practice for two weeks. So I am not disappointed with my 10th place in individual. For the team, we have already shot a lot together during the selection, but we will do some more testing for the order of shooting. I like shooting in third place but I can change if needed. I just try to bring my experience to the team.   Lee Sung Jin (KOR) – alternate in the Korean team The selections took place between April and May. We met for 6-7 training camps. There is a point system and there is also the appreciation of the coaches. So I am the alternate and I probably won’t be able to defend my World Championships title from 2005. I just hope my team-mates will win again. I am happy to be in the individual bronze final in Antalya tomorrow. It will be fun to shoot with all the fans and the television.     Today, we have asked the following questions to the archers and one judge: 1. How do you like the weather here in Antalya? 2. What are your expectations for the World Championships in Leipzig in July?  Takaharu Furukawa (JPN)    Recurve Men   Tomasz PRZEPIORA (POL) 1. Very hot! I like it! 2. It will be a tough competition. We will need at least 1300 points to go. I don’t know if I will be in the team. It will depend on my results and my form.   Takaharu FURUKAWA (JPN) 1. Very good! Not too hot and the wind is not too strong. 2. I lost in the first team round here. I will have to take revenge. I will shoot better in Leipzig. My main goal is to get a place for the Olympics.   Harish Chand KERAI (IND) 1. I enjoy it! 2. I have good feelings. I will go to Leipzig to take a good place in the event, not really for points for the Olympic Games.   IM Dong Hyun (KOR) 1. It’s my fourth time in Antalya but this is the best one. 2. Winning the gold medal in individual and team and also making places for the Olympics.   Marco GALIAZZO (ITA) 1. It’s a good place here. Right temperature and right wind feels fresh. 2. I hope for a nice competition. The goal is to qualify for the Olympic Games. It’s the main thing for me.   ZHAO Shenzhou (CHN) 1. The weather is great! I like it very much. 2. The best results as possible. I hope for places for the Olympic Games in my country.     Anja Hitzler (GER)Recurve Women   Tetyana DOROKHOVA (UKR) 1. I like the beautiful weather. It’s good for training and shooting. I’m enjoying it! 2. I’m not sure I will go to Leipzig. Some decisions have to be made. If I’m there, my goal will be to earn points for the Olympic Games, but it will be a tough competition.   Jennifer NICHOLS (USA) 1. Very nice. I like the breezy side. 2. Just going and shooting the best we can as a team and individual. I’ve never been there, so I’m looking forward to it. Winning a place for the Olympics will definitely be the goal.   Anja HITZLER (GER) 1. I like it very much. There is not so much sun. It’s sometimes a bit difficult with the wind. 2. A medal with the team and the top 10 or 20 in the individual competition. There will be many people attending and it will be very much exciting! It’s totally different to shoot at home.   Alison WILLIAMSON (GBR) 1. With 99.9% of sun, it’s fantastic. I like hot weather. I remember that in 2004, I think, it had been raining a whole afternoon… 2. I hope we can manage a place in the Olympic Games for the team. Individually, I’d like to, as well, but for me the team is more important.   Malgorzata CWIENCZEK (POL) 1. The weather is quite nice. I like it, but the change in wind is the main problem here. 2. Go and fight there for medals and Olympic points both in individual and team. Everything is possible!   Martin Damsbo (DEN)    Compound Men   Eduardo GONZALEZ (VEN) 1. Good for us! 2. I hope to shoot the best and be the team winner.   Martin DAMSBO (DEN) 1. It’s great, though a bit hot for a FITA Round. But it is better than Ulsan and Varese… (smile) 2. Let’s see in a few weeks. For now I feel good. If I can find my luck, then I’ll have a good result. With the team we hope to be well ranked.   Judges   Simon WEE (SIN) – FITA Accredited International Judge 1. The weather is good. I don’t feel burnt because the air is cool and you don’t feel the sun. 2. I’m sure it will be a good competition. We have the Athletes Committee election there and I hope this goes well. I hope people will understand what we are doing. (Note: FITA Athletes Committee members will be elected by the archers themselves for the first time).   Ludivine Maitre Wicki / Tomasz Uss FITA Communication
