He doubles his advantage with three arrows to go and leads 85-83. Im finishes with a good 9-10-9 end, but this is not enough to come back. Victory for Kim on the final score of 113-111.    5:55 pm (local time) – Recurve Women – Gold Choi Eun Young (KOR) – Natalya Erdyniyeva (RUS) No. 1 seed Korean takes the field now against Russian Erdyniyeva. She starts with 7-9-9 for a 25 ends, while her opponent from Eastern Europe scores 28 with her first three arrows. Choi trails back half-way by two points (54-52). Choi seems she can recover starting the second half of the match with a double 10, but she goes on with an 8. Erdyniyeva keeps her advantage (82-80). Still a two point lead before the last arrow. Triple 9 for both archers and the new rising star of the Russian Federation wins gold!   5:45 pm (local time) - Compound Men – Gold Braden Gellenthien (USA) – Sebastien Brasseur (FRA) Another compound American today in the finals: Gellenthien is facing the French Brasseur for the gold in the men’s category. This time the match starts at target 1 with the American. Good start with a double 10 and a 9 (total: 29). Brasseur ties after the first end with 10-9-10. Same second series for the two archers with 29 additional points each (58-58). It is Gellenthien who breaks the tie first shooting one point higher than his opponent with three arrows to go (87-86). Great come back in the last end by the French with a perfect score of 30. He clinches the match by one point (116-115) after the American shoots 9-9-10.   5:30 pm (local time) - Compound Women – Gold Anna Kazantseva (RUS) – Jahna Davis (USA) Davis is shooting first on target no. 2 and she starts with a low 25 end, maybe due to the wind. The wind seems a bit tricky today! Kazantseva with 27, she takes the lead by two points. The Russian increases her advantage to three points half-way (54-51). Davis goes on with a 10-10-8 series, while Kazantseva goes the other way around with 8-10-10. The American still trails behind by three. And a perfect last end for the Russian to clinch the match and win this World Cup stage (112-108).   5:15 pm (local time) - Recurve Men – Bronze Xue Hai Feng (CHN) – Juan Rene Serrano (MEX) Serrano is shooting first on target 2 and opens with 28 points. Xue immediately puts pressure scoring a perfect 30 with his first three arrows. The Mexican goes on with a triple 9 and a total of 55. Xue seems to lose concentration… after four consecutive 10s, he shoots 8-7. Tie score! Serrano keeps regularity with a 28-point end, while Xue shoot 8-9-10. Serrano on the lead by one point (83-82). Another 7 for the Chinese archer with his eleventh arrow… His opponent finishes the match with a perfect 10 and takes bronze (110-107).   5:00 pm (local time) - Recurve Women – Bronze Lee Sung Jin (KOR) – Natalia Valeeva (ITA) Natalia Valeeva takes the line first and opens the match with a 29 out of a possible 30. She leads by one point. Lee will then be shooting first as she is trailing back now. Triple 9 for the Korean. Valeeva scores a 7 with her fourth arrows but goes on with two perfect shots to keep her lead (56-55). Valeeva is one of the fastest shooter on the line. The Italian doubles her advantage in the third end: 84-82. The two archers are quite close as they were ranked 4th and 6th in the qualifications. With a low 8-10-8 series, Valeeva let Lee come back and tie the match. Shoot-off again… Valeeva with another poor 8 and Lee takes victory with a 10!   4:45 pm (local time) - Compound Men – Bronze Thomas Hasenfuss (GER) vs. Roberval Dos Santos (BRA) It is the first appearance of Hasenfuss in a World Cup final. Dos Santos shoots first. Tied score after the first end, both archers shooting two 9s and a 10 for a temporary total of 28. High level in the second end with a perfect three arrow series and a two point lead for the Brazilian (58-56). What a match and a come-back by Hasenfuss with a perfect end to tie the match at 86! The two archers are tie with one arrow to go (105-105)… and both archers shoot a 9. They go to a shoot-off!). Roberval too low and scores 8… Hasenfuss with another 10 and victory for him!   4:30 pm (local time) - Compound Women – Bronze Anastasia Anastasio (ITA) vs. Gladys Willems (BEL) Willems opens the match with 8-10-9. Anastasio starts her match with a triple 9. The match is tied at 27. The Belgian continues with a perfect 10-10-10 end to take a big advantage over her opponent (57-49). It’s a tough experience for the young Italian archer. This level is new for her, but she holds it good. Triple 9 in the third end. However, Willems shows why she holds the World Record (1411) for the FITA Round: another 10-9-9 end for her and a lead of 12 points (84-76). No problem for Willems to clinch the match and win bronze with a comfortable margin: 112-102.   Ludivine Maitre Wicki FITA Communication
