Colombia and the United States win Team Gold Medals
Rio de Janeiro (BRA) – 28 July 2007
The Colombian team that recently qualified for the Olympic Games in Leipzig added another notorious performance to their curriculum as they won the gold medal in the women’s team event at the 15th Pan American Games in Brazil.
Seeded fourth, they beat Venezuela, the United States and Canada in their quarter-final, semi-final and final matches respectively, showing that their outstanding result at the World Championships was not just luck.
A surprising Canadian team took the silver, and the United States, winner of all previous team gold medals in the history of these games, took the bronze in a close match versus Mexico.
On the men’s side, the United States added another title to their outstanding historical toll after beating Argentina, Brazil and Canada. The Olympic qualified Canadian team won the silver medal, and Mexico took the bronze.

The archers of the Americas will now aim at the Continental Qualifying Tournament for the Olympic Games, to be held in San Salvador in October.
