25 September 2007 - Archery to launch bidding process for 2010 and 2011 World Cup Final Events

PRESS RELEASE   Lausanne (SUI) – 25 September 2007     Archery to launch bidding process for 2010 and 2011 World Cup Final Events   On 1 October 2007 the International Archery Federation (FITA) will launch the bidding process for its 2010 and 2011 World Cup Final events. The World Cup Final event has been designed with a focus on encouraging hosts to showcase their most spectacular destinations as competition venues.   The Archery World Cup Final’s are held over two days at a venue of choice of the host organiser. This year’s event will be held in November on a floating venue in Dubai at the Jumeirah Madinat resort just next door to the famous 7 star hotel Burj Al Arab demonstrating the versatility and creativity that can be used in selecting a competition venue.    FITA, in cooperation with TSE Consulting, a specialised sports consultancy, took the initiative to make the event more attractive for potential hosts, athletes and spectators. The advantage is that the final competition can be set up in almost any location. This is the chance to produce a first class sports show right at the heart of the city. A city’s prime venue can be showcased to up to 250 million TV viewers during one event.   The Meteksan Archery World Cup consists of four qualifying stages held in spectacular venues around the world (2 Europe, 1 Asia and 1 America) all culminating in a grand World Cup Final where only the top archery of each category compete.   Tom Dielen, FITA Secretary General, said: “Since its inception the Meteksan Archery World Cup has raised spectator and media interest in every host city. It has also raised the interest of archery worldwide. As such, FITA treats its host cities as true partners in staging an incredible event. We have worked hard to make the concept of the event valuable for host cities and look forward to welcoming new partners on board for the 2010 and 2011 editions.” World Cup Concept: Questions & Answers Bidding documents will be available as of 1 October 2007 at www.archery.org or please contact for more information:   Fédération Internationale de Tir à L’Arc Juan Carlos Holgado Event Director Phone: +41 21 614 3050 info@archery.org   FITA Communication
