23 November 2007 - Interview of Juan Rene SERRANO (MEX)

Interview of Juan Rene SERRANO (MEX) Dubai – 23 November 2007  How does it feel to be here? I am very happy and very excited.   How did you prepare since Dover in August? I went to the Good Luck Beijing Tournament; I also did the Continental Qualification Tournament and the National Mexican Championships. The special training I am following is simply training non-stop with no rest. The only rest I got was coming back from Beijing as my bow did not arrive, so I had 4 days free of training. (Laughing)   What are your expectations? I hope to win! At least give all I can give and show that the Latin Americans can do it!   What do you think of the format? I did not know that there was no Round Robin, nor that the World Cup ranking was followed for the matches. Anyways, it does not bother me as it is.   What do you think of the World Cup in general? The World Cup is very good, it is very challenging, but more important it adds value to the sport, it has raised the archers’ level. Now it is not only European Cups, but a WORLD Cup!   What do you plan for next year? I hope to obtain an Olympic place, the final selections will be made in December and February, and after that, just get prepared to it… We will go to the World Cup stages and also a several weeks training camp in Korea.   What do you do for a living? Right now I am doing archery full-time. I put school on standby while I get prepared for the Olympics. I am not even authorized to have a girlfriend! (Laughs…)   Do you have any lucky charm? I have a Brazilian hand that my grandmother gave to me.   Thank you and good luck, then!
