Opening Ceremony
Santo Domingo, 1 April 2008
The Opening Ceremony took place on the Competition Field located in the “Parque del Este” on Tuesday 1 April 2008, with the presence of the local personalities such as Mr Felipe Payano, President of the Organizing Committee and Secretary of Sports Minister, Mr Luisin Mejia, President of the Dominican NOC, Mr Soterio Ramirez, Deputy Secretary of Sports Minister and the representatives of the Dominican Archery Federation and International Archery Federation.
The marching ended up with the cheers of the Dominican locals as the speaker announced the host country, and the National Anthem was then in the air.
Mrs Barbara Hernandez, President of the Dominican Archery Federation opened the speeches with the Athletes’ Oath, followed by a welcome speech by the President of the Organizing Committee and Secretary of Sports Minister.
The archers could then march out in music, cheered by the local fans.
