World Cup Stage 1 – Quotes of the Day 1

Today was run the Qualification Round. Find below some quotes from archers. We asked them the following questions: What are the shooting conditions here? How important is it to have a good result here in order to have a good season? Larry Godfrey (GBR) Recurve Men
Larry Godfrey (GBR) It’s tricky. I won’t speak about the target faces… but apart from that it is ok. It’s not really important to me. We have National Trials for the Olympic spots so the competitions I participate in are more like trainings.
Thomas Aubert (FRA) They’re quite bad. It’s very humid and relatively bad organized when it comes to change target faces. It is not really important to me. We haven’t won any Olympic place yet, so I am training for the Vittel where a few places will be on the spotlight.
Luis Eduardo Velez Sanchez (MEX) It is raining and there is a little wind. It is very important, because you gain more confidence and security as you make good results. The decision on who goes to the Olympics will be made with the World Cup Stages and three national events. Femke Boonen (NED) Recurve Women
Alison Williamson (GBR) It is… interesting. Weather is changing a lot during a day. It is important of course, but if you do a bad result you will learn from it for next competitions.
Bérengère Schuh (FRA) It is raining, there is wind, it is changing a lot If you do an average result, you will have to work on you to do better in the next competition.
Anja Hitzler (GER) It is warm, sometimes it is raining and a lot of humidity, but the field and the targets are ok. It is very important as this is the qualifier for the European Championships and Porec World Cup. We still have no place for the Olympics yet and in an Olympic year all goes very fast, although we start earlier.
Femke Boonen (NED) They are good, it is hot, and when it is dry it is better. It is very important for me because there are no National Trials for the Olympic spots, it will all be decided following the results of the World Cup Stages, and so we must have good results in all of them. Compound Men
Braden Gellenthien (USA) They are perfect, there is a little wind, but it is great! I can’t really say, it is very early for the first tournament; archers are not ready as the Indoor season is just over. If I don’t make a good result here I won’t go to Porec for the second Stage.
Sergio Pagni (ITA) The field is very good and the wind too, except for the rain. This MUST be a very good Stage for every archer and all archers seem to be in good condition. We all agree that we have to earn the more points we can in this event in order to afford a bad result in the other Stages and be more relaxed. If we do a bad result here, there won’t be any room for mistakes the rest of the season.
Sebastien Brasseur (FRA) They are pretty good. If a good result is achieved, it will give confidence in myself and this is important for the rest of the season.
