The qualification of the Meteksan World Cup Stage 1 in Santo Domingo continued with the Recurve Men and Compound Women. The Indian team in Recurve Men and Van Natta (USA) in Compound Women were truly impressive.
The archers shoot two halves of 36 arrows at a target 70 meters away during qualifications.   Cheng Wei KUO (TPE) Recurve Men It was a very tight race on the top of the recurve men’s ranking during the qualifications. Kuo (TPE) emerged as the winner with 670 points. He was tied with Champia (IND) but had a greater number of 10-point arrows. The 2007 World Cup Winner Tsyrempilov (RUS) followed with 669 pts. Kim (AUS) and Rai (IND) complete a very high quality quintet with 667 pts. Some other big names continue the ranking. Talukdar had 662 pts and three archers achieved 661: Di Buo (ITA), Serrano (MEX) and Wang (TPE).
In the Teams competition, India leads with 1987 points (the total of the three archers), followed by Chinese Taipei with 1970. Italy had 1961 and Mexico 1945.   Jamie VAN NATTA (USA) Compound Women Van Natta dominated this category head and shoulder. She scored 346 in the first half and later 348 for a total of 694 points. She has a 13-point lead over Loginova (RUS) on 681 pts. Soemod (DEN) was pretty consistent scoring 340 and 339 for a total of 679 pts. She is just ahead of Bouillot (FRA) and Buden (CRO). In 7th place Holderness (GBR) scored 673 points ahead of Linda Ochoa (MEX) and Goncharova (RUS). This means the high part of the match bracket will have most of the experienced archers: Van Natta, Bouillot, Simpson, Goncharova and the two Ochoa sisters!
In the Team ranking, Great Britain leads with 2017 points ahead of Russia on 1998 and Mexico on 1997.
