Archery Development Programme in Niger
Cotonou (BEN) - 30 April 2008
Recently, we informed you that the National Olympic and Sport Committee of Niger introduced a program sponsored by the Olympic Solidarity called “Development of the National Structure” for archery. The second part of that training lasted eleven days.
This training was done in three phases:
Ø Theoretical - with FITA Level 1 Coaches Manual, DVDs on Judges Training and “The battle for Olympic Archery Gold “ as didactic supports;
Ø Manual - learning how to make arrows and strings;
Ø Practice - working on shooting technique and learning how to operate a club of six to twelve people.
During the closing ceremony, the new coaches, very satisfied with the training, thanked the Niger NOC, FITA and the Olympic Solidarity for making them the precursors of one fascinating sport. They promised to keep working for the growth of archery in Niger.
