World Cup Stage 4 – Quotes of the Official Practice Day
Boe – 23 June 2008
During the Official Practice Day, we asked the archers what their expectations are for this competition.
Recurve Men
Thomas Aubert (FRA) I just want to finish the season on a good note, it is the last international competition of the year for me.
Al Wills (GBR) I have no expectations. If I shoot well and am glad of my performance, I will be happy. It is another day at work!
J.D. Burnes (CAN) To shoot my best.
Jason Lyon (CAN) If I don’t shoot well, I hope to meet lot of good looking girls in town.
Brady Ellison (USA) We changed a couple of things since Turkey. I am in good form, I will shoot well to continue on the same line than Turkey and get to China in a good shape.
Waikhom Ranjan Singh (IND) I want to enjoy the competition and get to improve my performances.
Miguel Pedraza (PUR) I am going to fight for an Olympic spot. I really believe I can do it. I participated in Seoul Olympic Games, 20 years ago with Hiroshi Yamamoto, so I have good hopes to achieve it.
Calvin Hartley (RSA) I want to be in the top 20. I finished 27 in Turkey, so I want to do better this time. This is training for upcoming Olympics.
Matthew Gray (AUS) I think I will do very well.
Recurve Women
Natalia Sanchez (COL) I hope to reach the individual Final and Gold in Team.
Naomi Folkard (GBR) I just want to shoot well. This is preparation for the Olympics.
Elena Tonetta (ITA) I don’t know… I have not been shooting very well lately, but I still hope I will get a medal.
Anja Hitzler (GER) I just want to win a spot for the Olympics.
Yun Ok Hee (KOR) I have no expectations. I hurt my shoulder, so I will certainly not shoot as good as I wish.
Nathalie Dielen (SUI) I will just do my best and then we will see. Wind is a bit tricky.
Compound Men
Sergio Pagni (ITA) The statistics say I cannot win this time, since I won the last two World Cup Stages. I think in reality it is impossible to win three times in a row (laughs), but it is possible in probabilities!
Liam Grimwood (GBR) I hope I will make the Final.
Compound Women
Jamie Van Natta (USA) I started well this time, since for once my bow was not lost by the air company (laughs). But I have very high expectations here, since in Turkey I was very close to the World Record. I am really confident.
Valérie Fabre (FRA) I will shoot the best I can.
Amandine Bouillot (FRA) I am aiming for a podium here and a place in the World Cup Final in Lausanne.
Sofia Goncharova (RUS) The weather is very nice here, I never thought it could be hotter than in Antalya, but it is! I will do all I can and give it alll to qualify for the World Cup Final.
