Qualifications under the rain
Llwynypia
The competition had to be interrupted on Tuesday because of the bad weather and the night falling down. Moreover, two archers suffered from seemingly light injuries when they swept on the course.
The barebow course was finished by all the archers. The Recurve Women also complete their course. The other courses could not be completed. The barebow archers, shooting faster, beneficiated from slightly nicer weather conditions. Recurve Men This category could complete 17 targets shooting three arrows each time. To note, for the first time at a Field World Championships, the highest possible value per arrow is six instead of five. Until now that did not change much the hierarchy from two years ago. World Champion Michele FRANGILLI (ITA) leads with 264 points ahead of Sebastian ROHRBERG (GER), 254 points, Alvise BERTOLINI (ITA), Jonathan SHALES (GBR) and Olympian Victor WUNDERLE (USA).
Recurve Women
This category could complete their 24-target course. Therefore, after 72 arrows, Jessica TOMASI (ITA) leads with 350 points ahead of Olympian Naomi FOLKARD (GBR) with 346 points. World Champion Dolores CEKADA (SLO) is currently on 5th place and past Word Champion Carole FERRIOU (FRA) in on 6th.
Compound Men
The sixth ring in the target was specially added to give more difficult competition for the compound archers. With the bad weather conditions, their life was definitely more difficult today. They could complete 17 targets. Hence, after 51 arrows, a pair of British athletes is leading the pack. Chris WHITE (GBR) had 289 points, one ahead of Liam GRIMWOOD. Dave COUSINS (USA) followed with 287 and World Champion Morgan LUNDIN (SWE) achieved 281 points.
Compound Women
The compound women just missed one target. Heike EHRLICH (GER) achieved 370 ahead of Jamie VAN NATTA (USA) with 369. Gladys WILLEMS (BEL) had 361 and World Champion Silke HOETTECKE (GER) got 356.
Barebow Men
In this category, Sweden dominated placing three archers in the top four. Mikael OLSSON leads with 336 points after the full course of three arrows on 24 targets. To note, for the first time at a Field World Championships, the highest possible value per arrow is six instead of five. OLSSON is followed by Mathias LARSSON (just one point behind), Sergio CASSIANI (ITA) and Martin OTTOSSON. World Champion Giuseppe SEIMANDI (ITA) is currently on 12th position.
Barebow Women
Archery from Germany and Sweden found some new company with a representative from China! Monika JENTGES (GER) leads with 295 points, ahead of WANG Chenchen (CHN), 289 points. Then the ranking features Erika SEGER (SWE), Manja CONRAD (GER) and Annika AHLUND (SWE). World Champion Luciana PENNACCHI (ITA) is on 14th place.
Men Team
Each team one has one archer from each category (the best one is automatically selected). In the current ranking Italy leads with 865 points, ahead of Sweden, 859, and Germany, 847.
Women Team
On the women’s side, Germany has a good lead with 989 points. Italy and Sweden follows neck to neck with 968 and 965 points.
