Interview of IM Dong-Hyun (KOR)
Lausanne – 27 September 2008
On his eyesight
When I had my eyesight tested in 2005, I knew that my vision was not good (0.34 and 0.3). However, I was not uncomfortable while I was shooting because I was long-sighted like old people. I just cannot read a book without my glasses. Even though I can see the target on the shooting line, it is not clear. I tried to put on glasses when I was practicing archery before, but I felt unwell. That’s why I am shooting without glasses. I don’t want to undergo an operation.
On his future plans
If I have an opportunity, I’d like to participate in the London Olympic Games.
I will graduate from my university next year, join a professional team and study continuously—the master’s degree and doctorate course. I would like to be a professor and an IOC member. And I also want to work for FITA in the future.
On his feeling after getting the gold medal
I am very happy to win the game. I just enjoyed this competition without tension.
On why he shoots well
I have a feeling that I’ve met good coaches and co-archers who practice archery hard. I was encouraged by this atmosphere and have become to shoot hard.
