Record of participation for the Youth World Championships!
Lausanne
The newly-named Youth World Championships regroup the Junior and Cadet categories and they will be important in many sense. For some of these young athletes it will be the first preparation for the Singapore 2010Youth Olympic Games. Some look at their first chance to shine worldwide, while some Cadets World Champion in 2006 will try to confirm in the junior category this time. Finally, for some archers it may be a unique opportunity to compete at the world level, while some others will try to put a first highlight in a long-term archery career. Anastasia ANASTASIO (ITA), Paris GOICO DE LARA (DOM), Ryan TACK and Jane WALLER (AUS) are the four Cadet World Champions in 2006. They are all back in Kundu-Antalya to try to confirm their title in the junior category. Medallists in 2006, Taras SENYUNK (UKR), Inna STEPANOVA (RUS), Lucy O’SULLIVAN (GBR), Pranitha VARDHINENI (IND) and Kevin BURRI (SUI) will try to win the gold this year, while the likes of Adam WRUCK and Kendal NICELY should be looking for revenge. In the Recurve Cadet Women category we need to mention Mariana AVITIA (MEX) who just ranked 8th at the very elite level of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Another proof that these Youth World Championships are an important step in the career of these young athletes. Some medallists champions in 2006 or good performers, such as Romain GIROUILLE (FRA), Elena TONETTA (ITA), Erika ANSCHUTZ (USA), Laura LONGO (ITA) and Thomas AUBERT (FRA) are already having impressive careers.
