Team Eliminations started in “Parque del Este” Archery Field


  Compound Men 1st round: India – Great Britain The first round was led by Great Britain by one point (50-51). In the second round, the Indians did their best to go over the British archers by scoring 9-10-X10-X10-8-10 (57), while Great Britain only managed to shoot 55 points. This gave the advance to India on the second end with intermediary scores of 107-106. The two last ends for India were quite low with 52 and 53 points, while Great Britain managed to shoot two great last ends scoring 57 and 59 which gave them victoy with a final score of 212-222.   1st round: Brazil - Guatemala The score at the second end was 105-106 in favour of the Guatemalan guys, who were at the best of their shape today against the Brazilians. They shot an almost perfect end with 59 pts, while Brazil managed to shoot 57 (162-165). In the last end Brazil tried hard to come back, scoring a better end than Guatemala (54-52), but it was not enough to clinch the match. Guatemala goes on! Final score: 216-217.     Quarter-final: Guatemala – El Salvador This was a very close match from beginning to end. Guatemala started ahead by one point (56-55). They shot a little 8 in the second end, and the Salvadorian archers profited to tie the match at 111 pts. El Salvador recovered of their trail as they shot a great 58 against Guatemala’s 54, which gave a result of 165-169. Guatemala could not recover, even more after the last perfect end of El Salvador. The final result was 221-229 for El Salvador.   Quart de finale : Mexique – Grande Bretagne Mexico was leading in the first end with 58 pts vs. 57. They continued to increase the gap to make the second end 116-113. In the third end Great Britain shot a perfect 60, but it was not enough to reach the Mexicans with 175-173. The British could never recover and lost the match 233-229.     Semi-final: United States – El Salvador The American guys started the match ahead and continued to increase the lead end after end to finally win the match 234-227.   Semi-final: Mexico – Australia This was a more tied match. The Mexicans started behind with 57, as the Australians started with a perfect end (60). Mexico tried hard during the two next ends to come back to the score and they almost did it (115-118, 173-174), but the Aussies did not want to let the Gold Medal Match run away and won the match with a bit of difficulties with the close score of 231-232.       Recurve Women 1st round: Chinese Taipei – France France took the lead in the first end by shooting 48-51. The Chinese Taipei was trying hard to tie the French but they only achieved to decrease the gap and bring the score to 102-103. In the third end Chinese Taipei achieved to tie the match, as the French girls shot a 6 and a 7, bringing the score to 155-155. It was too much for Chinese Taipei who scored 10-9-8-7-8-8 to finish the match, while the French archers shot a good 10-9-10-8-9-10 gathering a total of 211 pts vs. 205 for Chinese Taipei.   1st round: India - Mexico The Indian Team started trailing by 3 points (48-51). They managed to shoot a better end than the Mexicans scoring 52 pts vs. 50, bringing the intermediary score to 100-101. The third end could have been dramatic for both Teams as they shot very bad ends, respectively 8-9-7-4-9-7 and 9-9-10-8-2-5. This made the match to be tied and the Indians didn’t let it go in the last one, as they shot 52 pts against Mexico’s 50. India wins 196-194.   1st round: Georgia - Colombia This match started with a tie at 51 pts each. The Georgian ladies could not handle it and dropped the score to 100-105. Suddenly, they came back to the score as the Colombians shot a bad end with intermediary scores of 149-147. Colombia did not want to let it go so easily and tied the match at 200 pts. In the shoot-off, Colombia was ahead of 1 point with the first two arrows (8-9 vs. 10-8) but the last one made them loose the match with a small 6, and the Georgians won with a 9.     Quarter-final: Italy – India India opened the scores ahead with 53-55. The Italians took their acts together and came back to tie the match in the second end at 106 pts. The Indians shot two 7s in the third end and the Italians took the lead with 161-158. The same score difference was kept until the end, as they both shot 51 pts in the last end to finalize the match with a score of 212-209.   Quarter-final: France – Russia The French ladies started well the match being in front of the Russians with 55-53. Although they shot a in the second end they were still ahead by one point (159-158) and finally won the match with the last 10-8-8-9-9-10 arrows against Russia’s 8-7-10-8-9-10. Final score: 213-210.     Semi-final: Italy – Georgia Italy was ahead in the first end with 57-52. Georgia got closer in the second end, as the Italians shot a 7 as last second end arrow (107-106). However, they could not overtake the Italians, so the final score was 210-208 in favour of the Italians.   Semi-final: Great Britain – France France had a bad start with a 4 as second arrow. As much as they tried hard to come back to the score, they could not achieve it (53-46, 104-99), in the third end they got closer as the British shot a 6, but this was not enough (156-153). Final score: 207-204. Great Britain goes for Gold tomorrow against Italy!     Recurve Men 1st round: Russia - Canada The Russians started ahead with 52-50. They continued ahead in the second end, but the gap decreased of one point to 106-105. The Canadians continued on their way to tie the match in the third end at 160-160. The last end was decisive as the Russians tried to come back to the score but their last arrow (7) confirmed the winner of the match. Final score : 212-216 for Canada!   1st round: Poland – Great Britain The Polish archers started way behind the British ones scoring 49-54. They could get closer to the British in the second end as they score 106-108. Poland could not handle it any more and Great Britain didn’t want to let it go. Great Britain won the match by 216-212.     Quarter-final: India – France France was far ahead from India in the first round with 59 pts vs. 55. India then shot a great end (9-10-10-9-10-X10) and took over the French by one point, the French shooting three 8s (112-111). India shot as good as they could to keep the lead and they achieved so to finally win the match 224-219.   Quarter-final: Italy – Great Britain Italy opened the scores ahead of Great Britain in the first end (56-53). They were scared in the second end, as the Italians shot a low 7, and Great Britain could get closer to them (111-110). Italy continued to fight hard to keep the one point lead until the end, and they succeded as they clinched the match 219-218.     Semi-final: India – Australia The first end was tied at 54 pts. In the second end, India runned out of time for the last arrow, so it became a miss and they could never recover from it. Austrlia goes to the Gold Medal Match with a score of 211-217.   Semi-final: Italy – Chinese Taipei The fist end was quite close with 54-55 for Chinese Taipei. Chinese Taipei went on to shoot good ends (54-56-52), compared to Italians ones (53-53-55) and won easily the match 215-218.   Compound Women Quarter-finals: India – Russia The Russians were testing the alternate shooting in this match, although it is only requested for Finals matches. The first end was in favour of the Indians with 57-56. In the second end, the Indian archers shot a 6 and lost the lead with an intermediary score of 109-114. The Russians kept the lead since and did not let it go, although they shot a 7 in the last end, they still won the match with a final score of 218-223.   The Quarter-finals results are: Great Britain vs. Dominican Republic: 220-186 Germany vs. Venezuela: 223-212 Mexico vs. Brazil: 223-202 India vs. Russia: 218-223     Semi-final: Great Britain – Germany Germany started ahead of 3 points with 54-57. They continued to shoot another 57 pts end, while Great Britain was getting further from them with only 56 pts (110-114). Although the British girls shot better last ends than the Germans, they did not manage to score the last point that was needed to tie the match. The final score is 224-225 and Germany goes on to the Gold Medal Match tomorrow in the Fortaleza Ozama.   Semi-final: Mexico – Russia The first end was tied at 55 pts. The Russians did a better second end and took the lead with 110-113. The Russians simply continued to shoot as before and Mexicans could not do better. The Russians go on to the Gold Medal Match against Germany, with a final score of 218-224.
