Candidature procedure 2016 - All four candidate cities submit their files to the IOC Lausanne – 13 February 2009   The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on 12 February 2009 that it has received the Candidature Files of the four Candidate Cities bidding to host the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in 2016. Chicago (USA), Tokyo (JPN), Rio de Janeiro (BRA) and Madrid (ESP)* all delivered their files before the deadline of midnight tonight.    The four cities were accepted as Candidate Cities by the IOC Executive Board on 4 June 2008 from a total of seven Applicant Cities, which also included Prague (CZE), Baku (AZE) and Doha (QAT).   The IOC Evaluation Commission, chaired by IOC Executive Board Member Nawal EL MOUTAWAKEL will now analyse the Candidature Files and make site inspections as follows:    Ø Chicago: 4 to 7 April Ø Tokyo: 16 to 19 April Ø Rio de Janeiro: 29 April to 2 May Ø Madrid: 5 to 8 May   The Commission will then prepare a report that will be published and submitted to IOC members no later than one month before the election of the Host City on 2 October during the 121st IOC Session in Copenhagen.    Please note that the IOC will not release the Candidature Files, but has informed the Candidate Cities that they can make their Files public and post them on their websites if they so wish as of 13 February.     For further information, you can contact the IOC Communications Department at  +41 21 621 60 00  or pressoffice@olympic.org   Source: www.olympic.org Edited FITA Communication
