Rafal DOBROWOLSKI (POL): “The mixed team event is a great idea!” Santo Domingo – 2 April 2009
First of all, congratulations on your silver medal at the indoor world championships! How do you look back on that tournament? For me the 2nd place in my country was a big surprise as I don’t like shooting indoors much. We have to shoot indoors during the winter anyway because of the low temperature in Poland. How was your preparation before coming to Santo Domingo? My preparation wasn’t as good as I hoped it could be, because I’m building a house and I had a lot to do since Rzeszow. I didn’t shoot many arrows because of this. I shoot carbon arrows the whole year, so I only needed the correct sight marks for all the distances. I probably shot only about 360 arrows since Rzeszow. But even though your preparation was not so good, you still shot two personal records here: 356 points at 30 metres and 1324 for the full FITA Round... I was very happy that I broke my personal best. The weather conditions were good and all went well for me. Also, the team spirit is very good and I hope that we can put down a good result. What about the Dominican Republic? I heard this will be the last World Cup in Santo Domingo and that makes me kind of sad. I really learned to love this place and I would like to come back here to shoot or just have a good time here on the beach. What are your goals and plans for the rest of the season? Firstly, I would like to do well in the World Cup stages and score points to make it to the Final. And secondly, I would like to make the team to go to the world championships in Ulsan. For now I focus on the World Cup and use it as a good preparation for Ulsan. What do you think about the mixed event? (Redaction’s note: DOBROWOLSKI qualified with MOSPINEK for the semi-finals of this new competition) I think it is a great idea. I hope that Justyna (MOSPINEK) and I will put on a good performance and go for a podium place. Justyna is shooting very strong and I’m sure we’ll make a good team. It would be nice if we had this at every World Cup. I wonder what will happen when the Koreans and the Russians compete in the mixed round... They have so many good archers that they will probably be unbeatable. It would nice if we could have eight teams shoot the mixed finals instead of four. Well, thank you Rafal and good luck for the matches here and for the rest of the season! Dean ALBERGA FITA Communication
