World Cup Stage 2 – Quotes of the Official Practice

1. Are you following a special training programme for the upcoming world championships? 2. What is the most significant improvement you have noticed in the World Cup since it started back in 2006?

1. Yes, I am having more physical training, strength conditioning and as soon as the weather clears up in my town I am going to have shooting sessions twice a day (against usual once a day). We also will have indoor training sessions three times a month focused on bow tuning. I will also participate in Antalya and maybe Shanghai.
2. Definitely, increased scores, people picking up the game and stimulating public interest, at least in Canada.
Vic WUNDERLE (USA)
1. We are having the trials in a month. Apart from that normal training.
2. The World Cup brought more recognition and interest to the sport of archery. I would like to thank the FITA people for all they have done, for offering us the opportunity to be here and participate in such event. Another big improvement is the great show put up, also for TV and internet. It gives more awareness to the sport.
Compound Men
Fred VAN ZUTPHEN (NED)
1. We first need to qualify and we need to shoot three times above 1380 points either nationally or internationally. Of course, the ones that do it internationally have the priority.
2. The number of archers participating and their level. I am still surprised by the number of different archers winning every time.
Patrizio HOFER (SUI)
1. No, I don’t follow any special training. I will participate in the World Cups.
2. Every year I get a better ranking!
Goran VILLI (CRO)
1. Not really. I will still participate in Antalya.
2. The Finals taking place in a special place, in town.
Dejan SITAR (SLO)
1. Usual training, just shooting. I will go to Antalya, and if I get points in Porec and in Antalya I will participate in Shanghai.
2. Popularity has increased a lot, especially with YouTube, etc.
Compound Women
Valerie FABRE (FRA)
1. Yes, now I am shooting almost every day. Before I used to shoot every three to four days.
2. The Mix Team event.
Luzmary GUEDEZ (VEN)
1. Unfortunately, we are not going because we have to attend the Bolivarian Games.
2. The organisation has improved, as well as the level of the archers. It has also become a bit more professional with the prize money. You know that if you shoot below 117 points you have big chances to lose.
Sofia GONCHAROVA (RUS)
1. I have a very full programme with lot of training camps, shooting, physical exercise.
2. The scores have gone up and the bows are being tuned in a more professional way, maybe technique has improved a little. The level of the top 20 in the ranking is about the same, so it makes a 12-arrow match difficult and exciting at the same time.
