World Cup Stage 2 – Quotes of the Day 5

Recurve Men   Thomas AUBERT (FRA) This is your third World Cup season. How do you look on the past years? The first one I was close to the World Cup Final, but the federation did not send any recurve archers to Dover, so I had no chance to earn the points I needed to reach the Final. My second year I wasn’t shooting good. I was mostly focussed on the team events for the European championships. It paid off, because we ended up with a silver medal behind Italy. I think we need events like the World Cup to promote archery. The mixed team is another step in the right direction. I hope this third year will be good.   Recurve Women   Cyrielle DELAMARE (FRA) It was good, I am very happy. We have a good team and Sophie (DODEMONT) proved once again she is so calm when it comes to shoot a 10 at the last arrow. We had no real pressure but we wanted to win!  Dola BANERJEE (IND) It was a bad semifinal for us with a 6 almost at each end, but the score difference was only of one or two points. The wind was also quite tricky as sometimes it was blowing very strongly and sometimes it was completely down. I felt my body moving and I was trying to compensate but at the end the arrows were going to the side… Anyways, we have a very confident and good team.   Compound Men   Sergio PAGNI (ITA) Last year I won two gold medals and this year I have already a gold medal in mixed team and now I am in the two finals, individual and team. So far it is a great place to me. I remember the final field had a nice atmosphere last year. All the staff members in the organisation are nice people and that makes it also easier to concentrate on archery. There was some wind in the final field last year, but it was constant enough. Once you had adjusted your sight, the arrows were going in the yellow. I hope it will be the same tomorrow.   Martin DAMSBO (DEN) We actually shot really well today. We were just tricked by the wind in our third end of the semi-final against Italy. The arrows went a little too much on the left. That was the difference in this match.  Patrizio HOFER (SUI) You expected a better result yesterday, what happened? I know I didn’t have enough practice after Santo Domingo. I am one of the archers working full time beside archery.  During the eliminations I felt that I didn’t have the strength to make the strong shots as I’m used to. Knowing this, it didn’t give me the confidence I needed to do the job. Today we hoped to have a better result in the team round. In any case, I will be back in Antalya!   Compound Women   Sophia GONCHAROVA (RUS) I enjoyed shooting very much today. The matches were nice fights, it was about a 50-50 chance to win. The wind was a little tricky but at the end we controlled everything. We have also a new team member and she adapted to the very well. I am looking forward to discovering another final field tomorrow!   Didier MIEVILLE/Chantal STEINER/Dean ALBERGA FITA Communication
