World Cup Stage 3 – Quotes of the Individual Finals
Antalya
Recurve Men Simon TERRY (GBR) – Gold Medal I am very pleased with this gold medal, obviously. I have been shooting well all the week long. I am getting more used to head-to-head matches! I kept the same settings from the training field so I didn’t really suffer from the wind. I mean shooting 110 points with a six is a pretty good thing. I really enjoyed the place here, except some noise around which was unpleasant to me. Am I old now? (He’s laughing). We still have one more selection round in Great Britain to decide who will be in the team for Shanghai and Ulsan, there’s still a lot to do! Thomas AUBERT (FRA) – Silver Medal It was my first gold medal match at the World Cup. I felt relax all match long. Simon has been impressive, especially when he started the match with four tens in a row. The only thing you have to do is to care about your own shooting, no matter what your opponent does beside you. Compound Men Dominique GENET (FRA) – Gold Medal I was feeling very well in shooting. Now this victory has a special taste for me, it’s far different from the qualification round. I mean it’s easier to aim the yellow ring during the qualification round; today it has not been so easy! I was all excited inside; my only goal was to make things right despite the pressure. When I went out the shooting line, I didn’t even know what my final score was. I had to wait for the words from my coach! Braden GELLENTHIEN (USA) - Silver Medal This wind was really painful to me: I couldn’t aim properly and I wasn’t able to shoot as good as this morning. This place is very different from the field we used to go to this week, I have never succeeded in making things right here at the beach. Anyway, Dominique deserved to win, he’s a great shooter. Congratulations to him. Sebastien BRASSEUR (FRA) – 4th place This week is very positive for me. I succeeded in doing what I wanted to do, even if the pressure was quite high. It’s been a long time since I didn’t walk on a final field! I am very happy for Dominique; I know what’s the taste of victory in Antalya! Compound Women Luzmary GUEDEZ (VEN) – Gold Medal Wow I feel very happy! It’s my second victory at the World Cup, my first one was in France last year. The weather was the same than in Venezuela at this time of the year, so I was used to the heat. It was a bit windy but we have to shoot with it. It blew for me and my opponent as well. This
place is awesome, I really enjoyed shooting on the beach. What a great memory for me!
Camilla SOEMOD (DEN) – Bronze Medal
This is my first medal here at the World Cup this year and I’m very glad about it! It’s like my come-back if you prefer. I have been disappointed when I lost the semi-finals but that’s how things are running… I don’t see Ivana as an opponent: she is one of my best friends; we grew up together in the world of archery.
Ivana BUDEN (CRO) – 4th place
I did some eights but they were my mistake. To be honest, I didn’t expect to shoot some eights; I really thought I couldn’t shoot out of the yellow ring. Maybe I didn’t focus enough on what I had to do during this match.
