Another world record for Peter ELZINGA (NED)

He broke his own world record for the 50-metre distance with a score of 358 points (previous was 357 since 2004). ELZINGA recently also shot new world records for the FITA Round (144 arrows) with 1419 points and the 70m with 358 points.

Peter, first of all congratulations on yet another great accomplishment! 358 is an amazing score at 50 metres. What happened in the last end?
Yes, it's amazing, even for me! Up until the final end everything went smooth and I was shooting with confidence. I knew that I just had to shoot three yellows (nines) to tie the standing record of 357. I was so nervous and had a hard time seeing the bubble in the level of my scope because I was shaking so hard (laughs). I still managed to shoot a ten and two nines and the record was a fact! It was like a big load that fell of my shoulders.

So what's next? Where do the limits lie?
Well, we know the limit is 360. It's just a matter of time before somebody shoots a clean 50m. I don't know when it will happen, but I hope it will be me (laughs).

Okay Peter, thanks and good luck at 30m and for the rest of the championships!
Note: Peter EZLINGA finished the qualification round with a total of 1412 points and ranked first. He then advanced all the way to the gold final where he beat Rob POLMAN to win the 2009 national championships.
