World Archery Youth Championships – Quotes of the Cadet Qualifications

Recurve Cadets Men
Eugeni KIRKIN (RUS) – 2nd (team) after two distances “The most important is to be in 1st place in the team competition.”   Gaël PREVOST (FRA) – 4th in qualifications “It was a good performance: I broke my personal best and the French record at the same time. I’m glad I was able to show the technical skills that I’ve learned in training in competition. This result proves that my technical training is efficient. For the rest of the competition, I just hope to do my best, that’s all.”   Compound Cadets Men   Jaime van BARBIERI (AUS) – 4th in qualifications “My performance was average. I was not happy with how I shot. I can’t tell you a reason why I didn’t shoot well.”  Compound Cadets Women   Kailey JOHNSTON (USA) – Leader after two distances On her performance in long distances “I feel really good about how I shot this morning, because it was rough, a bit windy. I was expecting to be in first place.”   On her goal in Ogden “My goal here is to go to elimination matches, then to the gold medal match and win!”   On how she prepared for the competition “I started by practicing elimination rounds, long distances, short distances. Everything we do in competition I practice at home.”   Stephanie SARAI SALINAS (MEX) – 4th in qualifications On her performance in Ogden and her expectations “It went well today. I broke my personal best. Actually I was hoping to do better but it was not bad, I’m 4th. My goal is to win one individual medal and to win gold with the Mexican team.”   On how she trained for the competition  “I mostly trained the technical and mental aspects. I make visualizations and concentration exercises. I imagine myself shooting 10s and Xs.”   Vanahé ANTILLE FITA Communication
