World Archery Youth Championships – Quotes of the Individual Eliminations

Luca MELOTTO (ITA) – Defending junior men's world champion “I lost the first elimination match because I was not ready. I didn’t shoot enough recently. Now I think about my next match with the Italian team, because the competition is not finished. I hope to win gold with the team.”   Mangal HO (IND) – Cadet Men It feels nice here. I didn’t shoot so well in the FITA Round. Today I am happy with my scores but of course disappointed that I lost my 1/8 match at the end. It is my first international competition, so I was feeling quite nervous. The team was 4th in the FITA Round, but still hope for gold!”   Timon PARK (CAN) – Cadet Men “The place is nice here, but Turkey last year was even better: we had the beaches! The shooting conditions are a bit hot for me, but it is a lot of fun to shoot at a World Championships. I think archery is the most competitive sport, because it’s mainly an individual sport. My dream would be to participate at the Youth Olympic Games. I will shoot the qualifications on Friday. I have a chance.”   Jessica GIBBS (USA) – Eliminated in junior women's 1/16 round  “I was expecting to go a little further, but I did my best, and that’s all I can ask for.”   Compound   Ben CLELAND (USA) – Junior Men “I feel really comfortable here. I performed well in the wind. That’s the key to my performance today. I’m glad to see that all efforts I put into practice are paying off. I do expect to win here.”   Simon MIKKELSEN (DEN) – Cadet Men “I am very happy I won all my matches. I did not expect that! I am shooting well, probably a bit better than usual. The conditions are good.   I live about 30 kilometres from Copenhagen so I hope I will see the World Cup Final later this year.”   Jack SALMON (AUS) – Cadet Men “I was really nervous, shaking during my match. Two of my teammates are still in. So I cheer for them and I am confident we will have a good result with the team.”   Rosa Maria VILLASENOR RAMOS (MEX) – Eliminated in junior women's 1/8 round “I could have shot better in this round but I lost my nerve. I lost by only 2 points against Kendal NICELY (USA). I hope for a better result in the team competition. Training is going well and I’m confident that Mexico can win a medal, especially after our men’s team won the silver at the Universiades.”   Vanahé ANTILLE / Didier MIEVILLE FITA Communication
