16 March 2010 - Cooperation in Support of Para-Archery in Switzerland

Cooperation in Support of Para-Archery in Switzerland Nottwil (SUI) - 16 March 2010 The Swiss Paraplegics Association and the Swiss Archery Association have signed an agreement in order to increase their cooperation. The objective is to promote para-archery in Switzerland.      The French Swiss archer Philippe HORNER The agreement between the "Association suisse des paraplégiques" (Swiss Paraplegics Association, ASP) and the "Association Suisse de Tir à l'Arc" (Swiss Archery Association, ASTA) seeks to reaffirm the opportunities to cooperate, ensure the pursuit of mutual support in technical and strategic planning, and to clearly define the tasks of each association. Both organisations hope that their collaboration will help the promotion of para-archery.   After the integration of the international association of archery for disabled persons (IPC Archery) into the International Archery Federation (FITA), ASTA became the official Swiss contact for archery and para-archery. The "Sport suisse en fauteuil roulant" (Wheelchair Sport Switzerland) and Plusport remain the supervising organisations for para-archery.   ASP is in charge of the development and promotion of para-archery, planning of para-archery practice and assistants of the licenced para-archers. ASTA coordinates the cooperation with FITA, offers its expertise, takes care of the rules and trains the judges.   The Swiss Paraplegics Association was founded in 1980. It is the national organisation for people who have paralysis of the spinal cord and comprises 10,800 members. It promotes, represents and coordinates the interest of paraplegic and tetraplegic persons as well as other members in Switzerland. It also supports 27 regional clubs for disabled people spread all over the country. The Swiss Archery Association was founded in 1953 and aims at protecting and promoting archery in Switzerland.   Contacts: Association suisse des paraplégiques, Nottwil Danielle SILBERSCHMIDT, Marketing & Communication Phone +41 41 939 54 08, Fax +41 41 939 54 09 E-Mail: danielle.silberschmidt@spv.ch Official website: www.spv.ch   Association Suisse de Tir à l’arc, Susten Hans-Peter WERLEN Phone +41 78 602 01 39 E-Mail: hapewe@bluewin.ch Official website: www.sbv-asta.ch   ASP/ASTA Edited by FITA Communication
