29 March 2010 - World Archery flies longer with Turkish Airlines

PRESS RELEASE   Lausanne (SUI) – 29 March 2010     World Archery flies longer with Turkish Airlines  The International Archery Federation (FITA) and World Archery are delighted to announce the extension of their partnership with Turkish Airlines.   Turkish Airlines has been an Official Sponsor of FITA since the launch of the Archery World Cup in 2006. Now, the partnership has been extended for two more seasons, until the end of 2011.

The archery officials, athletes and fans have been delighted to fly with Turkish Airlines over the years. Turkish Airlines flights have consistently displayed first class quality and services. Particularly on the eve of the World Archery Championships last year in Ulsan, Korea, when, in response to the massive overbooking from the archery teams and fans before the championships, the company did not hesitate to exchange its regular plane for its biggest Boeing for the Istanbul – Seoul flight so that everyone could arrive on time.

Turkish Airlines is the fastest growing airline in the world with 120 international destinations and plans for 105 new planes that will join its fleet in the next four years. Moreover, the company has recently signed major deals with prestigious football brands such as Barcelona FC and Manchester United.

Turkish Airlines does more for archery than transport our officials. It also supports the athletes when they are travelling to competitions. All national team archers are allowed 12 kg of extra luggage free of charge for their archery equipment. This offer is valid on Turkish Airlines flights in partnership with World Archery. For practical matters, national archery teams are advised to print this certificate in English  or in Turkish .

“We are delighted with the extension of our partnership with Turkish Airlines. In recent years, the airline has become a major player in aviation and also in sports sponsorship. In archery, we are extremely thankful that Turkish Airlines not only supports us, but also all our athletes who travel to competitions. It truly shows how Turkish Airlines cares about sports and their passengers,” said FITA President Prof. Dr. Ugur ERDENER.

World Archery would like to thank Turkish Airlines for its continuous support!
