and Mr. Sirer AYDIN (Secretary General of the TAF)
The Turkish Archery Federation (TAF) and the Archery Club of Antalya held on 1-3 April the “1st Kahraman BAGATIR Spring Arrows”. This outdoor competition featured 293 archers from Turkey and abroad.
The competition was held in memory of the sadly regretted Kahraman BAGATIR who passed away last December and had organised so many world-class events in Antalya or in Turkey.
The “1st Kahraman BAGATIR Spring Arrows” was opened by a short speech from the President of the Turkish Archery Federation Mr Abdullah TOPALOGLU welcoming the participants, thanking them for being there and honoring the memory of Kahraman BAGATIR. In attendance were the FITA President, Prof. Dr Ugur ERDENER, the FITA Events Director and 1992 Olympic team champion Mr Juan Carlos HOLGADO as well as the staff of the Turkish Archery Federation. Kahraman BAGATIR’s wife, son and daughter were also present.
The competition took place over 3 days on the Antalya Archery Club field in the form of a 70 metre round for qualifications followed by individual and team matches. The event was well organised and the weather was good for shooting (warm and sunny with little wind). The event attracted almost 300 archers from countries like Turkey, Russia, Spain and Estonia. The new set system was used for recurve and compound. The TAF plans to organise this event every year.
