EMAU Congress takes place in Rovereto (ITA)
Scarzella re-elected for 4 years
Lausanne - 26 May 2010
FITA Council members Mario SCARZELLA photo, Klaus LINDAU, Philippe BOUCLET (FITA Vice-President) and Trudy MEDWED were re-elected in their position as EMAU Council Members. Mario SCARZELLA starts his 2nd mandate as EMAU President, after having received the unanimous support of all valid votes. Klaus LINDAU will have another mandate as Vice-President. Mrs Marinella PISCIOTTI was re-appointed as Secretary General.
The highest number of votes for Council member went to Hakan CAKIROGLU who got 32 votes. Hakan is still an active archer and competed at the Sydney Masters Games. He has been for many years involved in the organisation of the Golden Arrow and many other events in Turkey.
He will be a very good addition to the EMAU Council. He is a worthy successor for his friend, Mr Kahraman BAGATIR, who left us after a tragic accident. A minute of silence was observed by all delegates at the start of congress.
The vote for the 3rd-4th place was very tight. Evelyn PAPADOPOULOU and Trudy MEDWED were tied with 20 votes and 1 vote ahead of Derrick LOVELL who is the 1st alternate in case one of the elected members cannot finish his or her mandate.
Since the 4th place had a 2-year term only, a special ballot was organised to determine who would run the full-term position and the half-term position. As a result, Evelyn PAPADOPOULOU was elected for 4 years, and Trudy MEDWED for two.
EMAU created a special award to honour people that have contributed greatly to the development of our sport. The first recipient will be the FITA President and EMAU Honorary President, Prof. Dr. Ugur ERDENER and the price will be presented during the Archery World Cup in Antalya (TUR).
