Better and better trained coaches
Lausanne – 1 June 2010
The coaching course held on 11-17 May 2010 in Thailand generates great satisfaction.
The National Archery Association of Thailand (NAAT), supported by its National Olympic Committee (NOC), and which has a FITA partner accredited archery centre, is a leader member in South-East Asia. They organise a lot of activities in that centre: international tournaments, training camps for the national team but also for foreign teams, judging courses, coaching courses, etc. Most of the famous experts have already run a coaching course there: PARK Kyung-Rae, Don RABSKA, KIM Hyung-Tak.
A level 2 coaching course was held on 11-17 May 2010. Mr Pascal COLMAIRE photo, FITA Development and Education Director, conducted it. This course was funded by the Olympic Solidarity. Forty participants have hardly studied during those seven days, including 29 men and 11 women, 32 coaches and 8 archers, 4 physically disabled persons (2 wheelchair and 2 standing-up) and 36 able-bodied, 38 Thais and 2 Pakistanis.
The officials of the NAAT, of the NOC and the participants were delighted by the course. Those who had attended the latest FITA course in Bangkok have highlighted the following points:
Ø FITA has again improved the contents of its course, as well as the teaching process.
Ø It was a real coaching course, not a simple technical training.
Ø All the useful materials to the development of an athlete have been covered, and mainly on a practical way: teaching skills, technique, equipment, physical (strength, balance, cardio…), psychology (concentration, attention, management of the look and the breath, visualisation…), coaching during tournament, forward planning of the practice, etc.
Ø The large room given to practical teaching (about 3/4 of the total teaching time) had been highly appreciated and generated confidence to the participants for their future interventions.
Ø The projected documents during the classroom sessions were of a very high quality.
Ø The expert was able to adapt the programme to the various levels of the participants to meet their objectives as a coach.
Ø The share of the FITA documents with the participants had been considered as an honour.
The overall organisation of the course was good. If there was a working/studying spirit, it was nevertheless very friendly. Congratulations to the NAAT staff for having being able to organise this coaching course, particularly to its dynamic President Mr Sanguan KOSAVINTA (also FITA Vice-President, 1st AAF Vice-President and Member of the Thai NOC).
