Four countries will shoot for gold in the mixed team event

The mixed teams competed in the 1/8 elimination round all the way to the semifinals and the bronze medal matches. The recurve shot the traditional 16 arrow matches, while the compound shot four sets of four arrows on Hit/Miss target.   Recurve Mixed Team The American pair of Jennifer NICHOLS/Brady ELLISON photo, seeded No. 1, easily advanced to the gold medal final by defeating Italy (151-144) in quarterfinals and Russia (152-140) in semifinals. They set the new world! The USA will shoot for the gold medal against the No. 2 seed China (CHENG Ming/XING Yu), who beat Turkey (143-139), the Ukraine (149-147) and then France (149-145). The bronze medal final saw France compete against Russia. The French pair (Berengere SCHUH/Romain GIROUILLE) won the match 149-143.   Compound Mixed Team The No. 1 seed USA (Erika ANSCHUTZ/Duane PRICE) had a hard time in their 1/8 elimination round against Croatia. They had to go to the shoot-off to win. The quarterfinal match was easier for the USA, with a win over New Zealand 5-3 (3-4, 2-2, 3-1, 4-1). The USA were stopped by Mexico (Linda OCHOA/Julio Ricardo FIERRO) in semifinals. Mexico won 5-3 (2-4, 4-2, 4-3, 3-3). Meanwhile the Danish pair (Camilla SOEMOD/Martin DAMSBO) was rock solid all way through. They beat the Netherlands (Irina MARKOVIC/Peter ELZINGA) 5-3 (3-4, 3-1, 3-3, 3-2), then they were perfect against Viktoria BALZHANOVA/Denis SEGIN from Russia, winning 6-0 (4-3, 4-2, 4-1). Their semifinal against Italy (Anastasia ANASTASIO/Sergio PAGNI) was a little harder, both teams ending in a tie at 4-4 (score evolution: 3-3, 4-3, 3-3, 3-4). Denmark stayed in the yellow in the shoot-off and, after settling for silver last month in Porec, they now have another shoot at gold here in Antalya! In the bronze medal final, USA beat Italy 6-2 (4-4, 3-2, 3-3, 3-2).   The gold medal finals will take place on Thursday on the beach.   Vanahé ANTILLE World Archery Communication
