Field best archers go to Visegrad 2010 World Championships Lausanne - 8 July 2010   Visegrad, nearby Budapest in Hungary, hosts the next World Archery Field Championships from 13-19 July 2010. The last major event for field archery was at the Kaoshiung 2009 World Games. All the best field archers are now eager to play the world titles again in Visegrad.   Recurve Men Victor WUNDERLE (USA) won the World Games last year, a silver medal at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and another one at the recent World Cup in Porec. Michele FRANGILLI (ITA) was 2nd in Kaoshiung, field world champion in Cortina 2000, Canberra 2002 and Goteborg 2006, and team Olympic medallist in Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000. Sebastian ROHRBERG (GER) won bronze in Kaohsiung, the world field title in Plitvice 2004 and Llwynypia 2008, and the indoor title in Izmir 2007. The three of them are truly jacks of all trades who have earned medals in about all competitions (outdoor, indoor and field) in their more than fifteen years career from the juniors until now. They are ready to make the show again in Visegrad. The other major contenders are Al WILLS (GBR) and Matija ZLENDER (SLO).      TOMASI (ITA), FERRIOU (FRA), FOLKARD (GBR) in KaohsiungRecurve Women Carole FERRIOU (FRA) made a successful come back at the high level. She climbed again on top of the podium at the 2009 World Games, a title she had already won it Akita 2001. She also won the world championships in Loen 1990, Margratten 1992 and Kranjska Gorra 1996. Second at the World Games, Jessica TOMASI (ITA) earned the world title in 2008 and 2004. Naomi FOLKARD (GBR) won the bronze in Chinese Taipei and at the 2006 world championships. Dolores CEKADA (SLO) got the title in 2006. The other major contenders are Elin KATTSTROM (SWE), Amy OLIVER (GBR), Lisa UNRUH and Elena RICHTER (GER).   Compound Men The World Games and world championships title holders are Americans, Kevin WILKEY and Rod MENZER respectively. Morgan LUNDIN (SWE) won the title in 1992, 2000 and 2006 as well as the World Games in The Hague 1993, Lahti 1997 and Duisburg 2005. Dave Cousins (USA) won the championsips in Canberra 2002 and the World Games in Akita 2001. Other contenders include Dejan SITAR (SLO), Stephane DARDENNE (FRA), Jari HAAVISTO and Marko JARVENPAA (FIN). The best chance for Hungary relies on Laszlo KIS and Tibor ONDRIK.   Compound Women Petra GOEBEL (AUS) won the World Games ahead of Inge ENTHOVEN (NED) and Ivana BUDEN (CRO). They will battle again in Visegrad together with Gladys WILLEMS (BEL), Anne LANTEE (FIN), Lucy HOLDERNESS (GBR) and Ulkira SJOWALL (SWE).   SEIMANDI (ITA) at Kaohsiung 2009 World Games    Barebow Men The World Games and world championships title holders are Italians, Giuseppe SEIMANDI and Massimo Sergio CASSIANI respectively. Pasi AHJOKIVI (FIN) was 2nd in Kaohsiung. The Swedish athletes are always a threat in this category. They will be represented by Erik JANSSON, Bobby LARSSON and Martin OTTOSSON. Geza KUTI is a good chance for the host Hungary.   Barebow Women Elenonora STROBBE (ITA) won the World Games and Becky NELSON HARRIS (USA) is the world title holder. Christine GAUTHE (FRA), Monika JENTGES (GER) and Luciana PENNACHI (ITA) are other strong contenders.   The competition will take place from 13-19 July with the successive qualification rounds (marked and unmarked), eliminations and the show for the finals by the Visegrad castle.   Stay tuned on www.worldarchery.org!   Didier MIEVILLE World Archery Communication
